How to stop acting like a victim after the abuse ends?

Hi everyone, I'm new on this forum and this will be my first post. I wrote a very long story about my exboyfriend but ended up deleting it to write this instead.

My ex boyfriend of 2 years was extremely emotional abusive, verbally abusive, and manipulative. He was physical with me as well but I don't want to talk about that yet.

A brief backstory is this: We met and I wasn't quite interested in ...

Please help me through the hell. TRIGGER ALERT

Hi all.
I'm new to this forum but I could certainly do with some advice. Apologies if a little long winded, I'll try to keep the background as brief as possible.
I got diagnosed with cyclothymia in sept 2009, and I wasn't overly convinced. The depakote I was on didn't have any effect and after about 5 months I stopped taking it.
I have two children with a man I have had a tempestuous relation ...

Is this abuse? *repost, long post* *trigger warning*

This is just emotional abuse. Some "physical abuse" just very "light" abuse (harsh discipline). In case I didn't mention it Mom used to hit me with rulers (the flexible kind)

*Trigger Warning for abuse*

I have DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) that is non diagnosed due to an idiotic therapist. I usually used to stay on that board but was looking on here ...

Have I/Am I being abused? *Trigger, Possibly*

I'm in a rather terrible situation right now, and I'm trying to come to terms with my one system of behaviors and patterns of avoidance. The problem for me is that, being an empirical person, I can't trust any diagnosis I make for myself. It would be helpful if I had a set of cut and dry problems, and if my relationships were consistent in one way or another, but nothing is simple, and everything ...

I just don't get it

My parents go through these phases where they are reeeaaally nice to me, then they go through these phases where they are absolutely horrid. For instance, the past 4 or 5 days has been hell!!! I have 2 younger sisters and the whole effing world revolves around them.
It was my one sisters birthday party on friday and i offered to help out and drive around getting the last few things ready for the party. ...

father abuse, anger towards mother. Endless cycle

As long as i can remember my father has always insulted me.

I can look back and remember the rigirous process i would go through for getting ready for high school every morning. Finally i would finish and feel confident enough to start to head towards the front door to head to school, but i was almost always followed by my father shouting something behind me such as "aren't you going to brush or do ...

How can I stop my abusive mother picking on me?

I'm in my psychology honours year and I've just started applying to masters programs all over the country. I'm a little stressed out because I'm repeating honours, I have an A aggregate but I only managed to achieve a D aggregate for my previous honours degree and a C aggregate for my bachelors degree.

My mother is a clinical psychologist and she's really abusive towards our family and me in particular. She's the main breadwinner ...

The double standard of abusive spouses and abusive parents

I feel like I am the only one who feels this way, people think it's not OK to hit or yell at your husband or wife but think it's OK for parents to hit and yell at their adult children whenever they don't bow down to their every whim. It makes me really angry that people act like parents have a free pass and we have no right to complain, saying things like "that's still ...
