I bite & swallow my hair

This is my first post. I have struggled with trich for 11 years. I used to have long, thick beautiful hair. Now it's so sparse & all different lengths because I can't go to a hairdresser to have it cut (how do I ever explain my hair loss?). My friends & family have noticed the hair loss & I don't know what to tell them. The funny thing is that I don't pull as much ...

How I cope with/avoid pulling

Im interested in the ways people control their hair pulling, I'm running out of ideas.

These are some of the things that I do to either control pulling or that take my mind of pulling hair. They aren't the best solutions but the less I pull the better.

I take a lot of baths, whether Im dirty or not lol. If im having a bad day and want to pull, pull, pull, I get my ...

Hello everyone! I've never really talked about my hair pulling before, but I recently stumbled on this forum and it seems like a welcoming place for people to talk about why they pull, where, how to cope, etc...So i decided to share my story here, without the shame of trying to tell someone who has no idea what trich. Is. Its a long one...sorry about that...but I feel like I need to write it all ...

Hi, I'm New Here

Hello, I've had Trich since i was about 8 years old and I'm 18 now. I only recently found out that it was even a actual disorder. I'm pretty sure i developed it due to the stress and unrest at home and i just wanted to know if anyone had any tips or habits they have that keep them from pulling in a stressful situation. Anything would be greatly appreciated.

I Am Lucky - My Story

I am 38. 20 years ago, a girlfriend wanted to pull the 'white' whiskers from my chin. So she did, and I was amazed by the feeling of relief and cleansing when each hair came out. I also have a scar on my chin, so she pulled the big, thick black ones from the scar. Oh how good that felt...

We both started noticing that the white ones had the best bulbs (the black ones ...

started pulling again

I stopped pulling about a year and a half ago when I decided to get my dream pet, a persian cat, just by him being there gave me a reason to stop pulling, whenever I felt the need to pull, I would just go and pick him up and give him a cuddle. Now, he is no longer in my life, I barely had him 2 years but I stopped pulling for so long that ...

New Texture

Hi all;
first post - I did a search but did not find. I was wondering if anyone else had this experience: I've noticed that the "pulled" hair has a different texture when it grows in. It is comparatively wiry. As I'm sure many of you know, this makes it harder to not pull. Is this just a result of pulling, or is it normal hair aging, or what? If it is the result of ...

Hey all

I just joined and I want to say hello.

I have been a nail picker my whole life, a skin picker since high school, and a hair puller for the past couple of years. I spend prolly 3-5 hours a day doing this stuff.

Of the three, hair pulling can be the least obvious (I pluck pubes and chest hair).

I guess I've stopped trying to stop and am pretty much at ease with it. ...

Trichophagia

I was wondering how many people with trichotillomania also have trichophagia, which is the compulsive chewing or eating hair, usually after just pulling it out.

I do and I would like to stop it because it can apparantly be fatal, because the human body cannot deal with hair-balls and so it can build up into an intestinal blockage. Has anyone had success stopping it, or knows of any methods?
