New here

Hi all,
I just joined this forum today in hopes of finding some support. It seems as if there haven't been any posts in awhile but I suppose even writing this out could help me some.
I vaguely remember pulling some in high school, but rarely. It has become an issue in the last year or two. I am a firm believer that I can take control of this situation, but easier said then done. ...

TRICH ruined my life and continues to do so

I started pulling my hair from my head when i was in 6th or 7th grade. i thought it was absolutely no big deal and i told everyone about it. i thought it was cool that it didnt hurt me. i bragged about it. then my cousins would look at me funny and tell me i was going to go bald. i laughed in their face and said "HA! yeah right i have over 100,000 ...

I don't pull out, but...

... I twist my hair until it becomes entangled, and then I put my finger in the middle and pull.
I've been doing it for ages, since I was 14. It started after I was molested by a school teacher, but I don't know if it is because of that.
I do it frequently, when I'm stressed, when I'm bored, when I'm busy, when nobody sees me... I don't know how to stop.

Will my eyebrows grow back?

Hi all, I'm new to this part of the forums. I have Body Dysmorphic Disorder and have ironically developed trichotillomania about two years ago. I only pull out my eyebrows though. I pull out the middle of each so i pretty much have a bald spot in the middle of each eyebrow. its disgusting and I hate that I do it. I won't leave my room without filling them in.

I think I've been in ...

Your first time?

How did you feel when you first discovered that hair-pulling was actually a thing? That is was more common and you weren't the only one?

To be honest, I felt a bit more "normal" because it wasn't just me, but it was a lot of people who were experiencing the same thing. I didn't cry, but I felt immense relief.

What about you? How did you first learn of it and how did you feel? ...

The one time I was successful...

Was when I marked every day on a calendar with an eye full of eyelashes. If I didn't pick that day, I would draw an eye and long beautiful lashes on it to show my goal. I actually stopped for two months, longest ever (knowingly). Also, forgot to mention in my last post- wearing fake eyelashes really helps if you target eyelashes! you can't get to them, and you get a pretty looking eye, which ...

Helpful Information (I hope) from a Trich- :)

Just a few tips I've learned work for me, at least temporarily...

I've been pulling my eyelashes out since age 11, I am now 25 and some years ago started on my eyebrows as well. I am in the same pencil-in and thick eyeliner routine you all seem to be in. I've been to a cognitive behavioral therapist, taken medication, and done a few "home-remedies", if you will.

1. The absolute most helpful tip I ...
