Struggling w/Termination with Therapist

Hi, I stumbled across this site while searching online for advice on dealing with the end of a therapeutic relationship. I have been seeing the same therapist for nearly two years now. Given an extensive history of trauma in childhood and adolescence and recently in early adulthood it took some time for me to open up and trust her. About 6 mo. into the relationship, I started to see her without the cloud of suspicion ...

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Upon searching this forum I was surprised to see no mention of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, so i thought I'd add a thread for it in case anyone is interested. From what I've read, I actually prefer Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to traditional Congnitive-behavioral Therapy (CBT), though it seems they're essentially meant to effect similar results.

ACT involves accepting your emotions, not simply your reactions thereto, letting both your loudest and most subtle feelings ...

unable to cope in therapy

I was assessed for CBT but was told I was not ready for that until I had done psychodynamic. Went aong for 6 weeks and then had to give that therapy up. I was getting extreme panic attacks and felt unable to cope. I have since been assessed by a social worker who is part of the mental health service. She comes to visit me once a week. However the same thing is happening as ...

Behaviour Therapy-Does it help?

Was wondering if anyone with Borderline PD has had success with treatments such as Dilectical Behaviour therapy etc?

What treatments have you engaged if you were neglected(No emotional closeness, never hugged, just physical punishment) by you're mother?

Should I see a therapist?

I have bipolar disorder and an anxiety disorder, I think it would qualify as obsessive-compulsive disorder. I haven't talked to my psychiatrist about my anxiety because I don't want to take SSRIs or those addictive drugs like Ativan and Xanax.

My question is if I should see a psychologist or therapist of some kind.

When I was a kid I felt extremely rejected by my parents. I won't tell any stories, but suffice to say ...

Revolution in transport and the popularity of the health tou

A rapid increase in the use of the automobile throughout the industrial world and the fast expansion of the aircraft-fleets in those countries resulted in unbelievably low airfares. The worldwide availability of rental cars, and the inter-connection between all the sectors of the travel and tourism industry through the incorporation of modern communication systems, has improved the transportation facilities.

Tour packages are now being designed keeping in mind the requirements of the individual tourist. A ...

Therapy and N's

So I believe I am at the point where therapy isn't easy anymore. Nor is it fun to go to, or something I look forward to now. I have accepted who I am and all that it entails, I have accepted that it's not ideal. I have not accepted that it's something I need to change. My therapist is... frustrated. She knew off the bat that I was going to be resistant today (comment on ...
