Some good news...

After I first suffering with the symptoms of CD, I had to drop out of uni as it was too far away from home etc and was just too difficult. But a few years later, Ive plucked up the courage to give it another go, and Ive just been accepted by the uni I really wanted to go to! From what people have said on here, I get the impression I may not suffer with ...

Does anyone ever get better?

I have been suffering from this for 13-21yrs, and I just want to know if anyone ever recovers from this condition?
What treatments have worked for others and does medication help?

I have never had the chance to ask these questions before as I have never knowingly met another person with CD and Dr's I have seen dont even seem to know what the conditon is, apart from the original that diagnosed it and He ...

what now?

so I'm body dysmorphic.. so what now? do I suppress and try to go on with life? do I try to work through what caused it and possibly relieve it? the thing is, I don't think I'm pretty, but I don't really believe I'm ugly either, it's more the fear of being thought ugly by others that really hinders me in life.. and really, why should I care what other people think? As long as ...

Assessment

Hi all,

Last September the psychiatrist I saw outlined a treatment plan in his report to try and get me back on my feet (I've been using a wheelchair since June last year) and today I'm having an assessment with 2 doctors from my local NHS mental health service. The fun starts at 2:30 this afternoon lol.

I have to laugh cos I'm actually really nervous about it........

In other news I have had a ...

Hiya, Just popping in :)

Hiya everyone

I have been catching up on the posts. I do pop in from time to time.

Thank you for the www.emo-free.org site. I'm looking into it.

Recently I have a counsellor. I have been to two psychologists in the past and they told me I was managing ok, (too positive) and I did not need them, there was nothing they could do for me. The counsellor I ...

Simple Techniques To Calm Anxiety

I've posted links to the Uncommon Knowledge website before because they're passionate about research and improvements in the field of mental health. They provide excellent info and some freebie's on their site: http://www.uncommon-knowledge.co.uk

In respect of this forum and the rules, I want to make it clear that I'm not affiliated with these sites. I do though have personal experience of them and only wish to pass on anything ...

The Most Complete Info On Motor Paralysis CD

Hi Everyone.

I've just read through the whole article and it really is the best and most thorough info I've come across to date. True it deals mainly with motor paralysis, diagnosis and treatment, but it addresses the whole issue of CD and the wide range of symptoms.

Anyone not being taken seriously or getting appropriate and immediate treatment for CD, should print this and take it to their Health Providors and Social Services.

It's ...

Support? In The UK??

Grrrr!! Just wondering where the support is for CD sufferers in the UK?

THe MS'ers have their support systems, the Cancer people have theirs etc etc but CD has nothing. Not even MIND acknowledge it.

I was diagnosed last September and am more or less unable to walk now, along with various other problems, and I have had not one ounce of support or help from anyone in any way shape or form.

Grrr I ...

Does ANYONE come here anymore?

* SIGH *
It's frustrating to want to talk with someone else who has BDD, but nobody wants to talk with me! I don't know how many BDD boards I belong to now, but every single one I post to is so sparsely populated that checking in once a month is fruitless...I just want to have positive, supportive dialogue with other BDD sufferers, find out what treatments do or don't work, and all sorts of ...
