Sudden anxiety-insomnia. Can't sleep without meds help

I know mine is PPD-related but the insomnia is so bad and pretty much my main and only symptom so I thought I would post here.
It started 3 months after my second daughter was born, she wasn't sleeping well, if at all for weeks, I remember some nights she was up from 12-6 am. One night she finally fell asleep at 3 am and I laid there, awake unable to sleep. Next night, nothing. ...

Not slept in days but don't feel tired? ( going on 2weeks).

Hello. So as the title suggests I've not been able to sleep for about 2 weeks now, well, I have slept, but I've been staying up for days at a time, just tossing and turning etc. I have schizophrenia, so obviously not sleeping for days on end can make this worse. I'm not even that tired when I do stay up, that's what I don't get, why don't I get tired until the 2nd or ...

Don't awaken from nightmares

I have had a few what would be nightmare incidents where I don't wake up from them. In other words, I am not waking up in a paniky state or waking up at all. The dreams or nightmares don't seem to arouse me to awake. Is this a nightmare issue or what is it? Not sure why I would not wake up from something that I think should scare me awake.
I guess it could ...

alcohol and sleep - anxiety

I have never been a great sleeper and have always slept very lightly. My sleeping has deteriorated in the past 5-6 years. Drinking alcohol has always had a negative impact on my sleeping, causing me to go into a very light, disturbed sleep and feel unrefreshed the next day. The amount of alcohol that I am able to drink while still being able to sleep has decreased and decreased. Now, I am at the stage ...

Sleep monitoring tool :- shared bed + cat?

Having sleep problems, I want to monitor my sleep (and hopefully improve it).
None of the devices I've looked at so far state how they cope with two people (and a cat) in one bed.
Does anyone have any opinions?
I'm considering the 'fitbit flex'. The 'UP24' by 'Jawbone' has too many Amazon reviews staating reliability and repeatability problems.
Thanks in advance,

Sleep Paralysis Story

For those of you that don't know, Sleep Paralysis is when an individual is "half asleep and half conscious". It almost always occurs when the individual experiencing it is just about to wake up. They are usually quite scary, traumatic and also extremely vivid. Some people may even say it is a Paranormal Experience.

There is also a condition in which a person may experience this event many times, sometimes every time they go to ...

Polyphasic sleep as a solution?

I've just been reading about delayed sleep phase disorder (DSPD), which is a disorder that makes you a night owl. You feel like you perform best during the night feeling alert and awake whereas during the day you would just sleep, sleep and sleep. I could say that I have DSPD, but that's not the point, because I'm aware that this disorder, at least in my case, has it's origin in my social anxiety. I'd ...

I turned my sleep around

I had severe insomnia for 20 years. I've tried just about every remedy out there--melatonin, SAD light, different pillows, new bed, etc. I'd been to several doctors and sleep specialists to no avail. I was tested for sleep apnea (didn't have it). My dr. put me on lexapro (even though I wasn't depressed), which i stayed on for several years. I tried Neurontin, Ambien, lunesta, lorazepam (Ativan), over the counter sleep aids, and none of ...

Medication causing nightmares?

I was wondering if anyone else has taken Trazodone before? I've been on it about a year or so now and it's great for medication-caused insomnia. The issue I'm having is the vivid unpleasant dreams. Every night I have at least 2 different nightmares. I constantly wake myself up because of the dreams, and then fall back asleep just to have another one. At first I had really vivid dreams, but they weren't as regular. ...
