I was wondering if anyone knew if the predisposition or propensity of a person to be attracted to people who they know to be chemically imbalanced in some manfiestation (depression, social anxiety, chemical dependency, or the worst of them all, irrationality) is captured in a word or term? In laymans terms, is there a field of study into being attracted to "crazy" people (not in the psychotic sense) and if so, what is it ...

All the people in my group of friends call me Kat, except one. He is a fairly close friend, but he doesnt call me by the name I usually go by. He has occasionally called me Katherine (my full first name), but usually calls me strange things, like Champ or Chief, or by my family name.

I really want to know why this is.
