undiagnosed mother

My family has been dysfunctional for years and years - in fact, as long as I can remember. Last year I started to read about Delusional Disorder and it was like a lightbulb going on. My mother has been being'persecuted' by prowlers all my life. She makes constant phone-calls to Police and has caused a lot of trouble by accusing neighbours of prowling in almost every house she has ever lived in. Otherwise, she is ...

How real are the hallucinations?

Hello all

Ok I am getting worried with myself , I am on constant denial with myself about suffering schizophrenia or something like it, I am always thinking it might be something else or me just getting over paranoid with sounds and personal thoughts. I only had been visiting the psychiatrist for 1 month and he prescribed me on 1mg Risperidone.

The thing is I am not sure if I am hearing sounds or just ...

Fork in the Road

Wow, Its good to know I am not alone.
My wife for 20yrs has been diagnosed with DD a couple years ago but this has been going on for more than 10 yrs.
Started with leaving our daughter (only child) at JK and then coming back saying people were taking pickures, spreading rumours, plotting spying. Everyone was involved from school staff, parents etc. She would be frantic at times and blame me for not doing ...

Divorce

I've been reading through the posts here, and I noticed that just about everyone with a spouse with delusional disorder is divorced, or going through a divorce.

Is this because of the disorder? Does it have that high of a divorce rate?

I asked my husband, and he swore he would never leave me no matter what (Suuure...) but he did say "You don't understand how frustrating it was..."

Sooo, if your spouse (or yourself) ...

a question

when I was younger, I was diagnosed schizotypal (sp?) and my father and aunt are schizophrenic, and now my doctor is "treating" me for schizophrenia, but hasn't said that he thinks I am, and it's confusing. Especially since my mental instablility has prevented me from working and doing normal things. Why do you think this is? Would it be normal to give somebody treatment for a disease that you don't think they have?

At the end of my rope...

I just discovered this discussion forum and think it is so great....reading through all of the postings makes it clear that more people suffer from delusional disorder than I ever would have guessed.

This is my first posting, and I write it with sadness and frustration. So many stories are along the same lines, but I just need to vent to someone outside of my family! My 55 year old mother began having delusions about ...

how to get help for dd brother

Pretty sure my brother has DD. There's no way in hell to get him to go to a doctor...he trusts no one and it seems to be getting worse. How do you convince some who has this disorder that they need help??? I was thinking of telling him that I know someone who had the same problems as him. People following him, bugging his car, trying to poison him..etc. and he went to the doctor ...

My husband thinks I cheat on him with everyone

I have been married for 4 years now to a wonderful man, but through these four years, he has accused me of cheating on him over one hundred times. These delusions have at times been so real to him that he called me names and was prepared to confront the man he thought I was with. He in not comfortable leaving me alone or having me go somewhere alone. Every time, without fail he assumes ...

Have you recovered from Chronic Schizophrenia?

Hello,

I am just putting this post here to try to locate others that were diagnosed a chronic schizophrenic and consider themselves to have beaten it. I believe I have beaten it even though I am still a bit of an alienated oddball. What else could you be after an experience such as that. In addition, I do not believe schizophrenia is an illness, I believe its a natural healing process, I am anti psychiarty, ...

Forensics

Hi All,

I am really wary about starting a new topic about psychiatric forensics, but it may help others in the future and it helps me to talk about the process... so here goes!

Our first session was Tuesday morning when the doctor met with myself and my wife. The psychiatrist is a very sharp, no-nonsense kind of guy who won't let you make vague statements. He demands specifics and details. I have not yet ...
