ELI LILLY, ZYPREXA & THE BUSH FAMILY

More than one journalist has uncovered corrupt connections between the Bush Family, psychiatry, and Eli Lilly & Company, the giant pharmaceutical corporation. While previous Lillygates have been more colorful, Lilly’s soaking state Medicaid programs with Zyprexa—its blockbuster, antipsychotic drug—may pack the greatest financial wallop. Worldwide in 2003, Zyprexa grossed $4.28 billion, accounting for slightly more than one-third of Lilly’s total sales. In the United States in 2003, Zyprexa grossed $2.63 billion, 70 percent of that ...

Beng-Choon Ho, M.R.C.Psych., Nancy C. Andreasen, M.D., Ph.D., Michael Flaum, M.D., Peg Nopoulos, M.D., and Del Miller, Pharm.D., M.D.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: Previous studies have suggested that there may be an association between longer duration of untreated psychosis and poor outcome in schizophrenia. These studies have been interpreted as providing evidence that untreated psychosis may constitute an "active morbid process" that ...

Zyprexa: A Prescription for Diabetes, Disease and Death.

There were 20 deaths, including 12 suicides, in the Zyprexa group. Shockingly, these deaths went unreported in the scientific literature. The death cover-ups also took place in reporting trial results of several other atypical antipsychotics. These deaths occurred during very short trial periods, so the FDA's approval of these drugs is appalling.

On June 8, 2005, Eli Lilly & Co. announced that it had agreed to pay $690 million to settle some 8,000 lawsuits filed ...

Lexapro (escitalopram) and loss of líbido

Hi all,

I would like to warn you that Lexapro (escitalopram), the well known antidepressant can produce a long-term loss of líbido.

Fortunately you can recover the líbido some weeks after switching to another antidepressant like Zoloft.

I am telling you this out of my personal experience. I started taking escitalopram a year ago or so and progressively i lost my libido and sexual desire, up to the point that i couldn't even do it ...

Shamanism

Before I got schizophrenia, I did a lot of research on shamanism. There is a period of several years that a young person goes through, that is a transformation to becoming a shaman. The tribe usually takes care of this person for the years that he/she goes through this transformation. It is entirely possible that this person could have been schizophrenic. How else would he/she have visions of the supernatural world?

I personally have had ...

My views

I couldn't sleep last night as I was having some delusions and weird feelings. I can stare at myself in the mirror and hallucinate sometimes when I feel this way. I can just imagine how much I would be hallucinating if I was off my pills. Sometimes I think it would be better off my pills with no pills at all, and I could go about my life in a dreamworld, where aliens and trolls ...

Treatment-resistant schizophrenia and clozapine

Hi all,

A friend of mine was given clozapine because he suffers from treatment-resistant schizophrenia. With clozapine you need to make blood tests every month because otherwise you could get a potentially mortal illness called agranulocitosis.

I would like to know if there are other antipsychotic treatments that are also effective for the treatment resistant schizophrenia.

The most common definition of treatment-resistant schizophrenia denotes patients with schizophrenia who, despite at least two adequate trials of ...

Does this sound like Delusional disorder?

Hi, I am 24 years old and I live in Maine. I just found out 2 days ago that a lot of significant events in the last 6 months did not actually occur. They were very significant events and they were also negitive. I "thought" that i had been attacked, gone to the police, and hospital and yet when I tried to get the records there were none to be found. I just got back ...
