How to help a daughter in depression without conflicting wit

Hello everyone!

I hope someone can help me with advice and response. I have a serious double dual problem and I will try to be as concise as possible.
My 19yr old daughter has finished her high scholl last summer and she started a college. Things being as they are: a high school of her choice was not a demanding one and she used that to the maximum, so her choice of college was limited. ...

looking for older research study

Years ago I came across a video from a research study into the comparison of isolating male vs female children. There was a small empty room with a portion of it separated by a half wall. One parent would take one of their children and put them behind the half wall then leave the room. There was a camera setup to observe and the audio was recorded too. The kids I recall being from about ...

Parenting and children

I once found a psychology book on parenting that said the worst thing you can do is choose your children's friends. Has anyone found this book?

Hey there. Shouting out into the dark, here.
My son is 6. He was diagnosed with Tourette's, OCD, Spasticity, anxiety, and ADHD about a year ago. We've just begun a medication in hopes of treating or minimizing the Tourette's symptoms, as they have become disruptive to his teachers and classmates.
I have read and read and read. I have educated, advocated, and empathized. My son understands his disorder. He knows how to respond to inquiries ...

He manipulates them and it causes complex situations, he is 15 years old.

He is with his mother and he has a fight with her, he calls her names, gives her the finger and shouts so hard that the neighbors ring the doorbell in alarm.
His mother decides that ...

Detachment

I have a question.

For those of you who are parents, is it a condition of your 'love' or support for your child that they be attached to you and you feel attached to them?

Would you disown your child - in the form of kicking them out of your house, etc. - if you did not feel as though you were attached and they were attached to you even though they were fullfulfilling all ...
