Can anyone explain to me why Asperger's is considered closely related to Autism? I admit that I have a limited understanding of both, but I always thought that Autism was more sensory related (not being able to filter senses on different, appropriate levels, for example) and Aspergers was more cognitive and social (the "lack of empathy", for example, and not being able to understand certain social cues).

Am I right to assume the above? Or ...
