Self Pity?

Have you ever experienced this? Is it a ridiculous notion or a valid experience?

It's been kind of lonely in here

I had two alters, one developed in high school, his name was Maverick. I was one of those no friends, always picked on types and he didn't really stand for it. He was a smart mouthed, short tempered person who really had no regard for other people (myself being the only exception). I don't know if I want to say he was smarter than me but he was far quicker and really enjoyed toying with ...

Terrified of everything

Social anxiety disorder was actually the first thing my first therapist diagnosed me with when I was 19. Practically the first session. :roll:

It's gotten worse since then. The biggest problem, it seems right now, is that I CAN'T talk on the phone. Part of the talking problem may be selective mutism--I don't know. But it's like when I think about having to call someone, I ...

Extremity of views

I wanted to follow on from what I wrote in that "What do you want from this forum?" thread:
I would actually like to have a smaller presence in this forum. I'd prefer to come here to read and learn rather than to police or argue. But when the dominant view becomes too extreme, I feel I need to wade in. Obviously "extreme" is subjective. What I consider an extreme view, someone else may consider ...

In dreams...

This is very unusual for us...has anyone else "met" new people in dreams? Almost a week ago now, I think, I had a dream about two new alters. One was a little girl--I dreamed that I discovered her message on a forum that was something along the lines of "help me." The other seemed very rough and angry with the little girl. At first I was upset, but then the more I thought about it, ...

Paraphilia resources

Hi Everyone,

It's been suggested that we could do with a Resources section. Perhaps it's time to update the "paraphilias: Treatment & Medication" sticky at the top of this forum?

A resources thread could be a quick reference for newcomers and people looking for further information about paraphilias.

Useful content could include:
    * Descriptions and definitions of paraphilias
    * Helpful websites
    * Helpful books
    * Support agencies

Please note that to make it a sticky ...

My aunt

Um, let's see...a bit of background would be good, I think?

Last year, I moved into the dorms for my last year of school. I now have my B.A. in Psychology, go me, it's terribly ironic sometimes with all my problems that's what I majored in... :lol:

My parents have been extremely abusive toward me physically, emotionally, and sexually. As such, I did NOT want to move ...

Can 'The Pill' make things worse?

I've been having terrible difficulty with my mood swings and periods over the past year mainly (sorry if that's too much information), so I went to my doctor and she put me on the contraceptive to try and sort out my hormones and such. I've only been taken the pill for 9 days now and during that time, my personality has changed slightly - it's brought on more downs than ups. Last night I got ...
