Child Abuse Is Illegal, Right? Not At Teen "Boarding Schools"
Operating mostly in secret, while making billions of dollars, is the abusive "teenage behavior modification" industry. Posing as schools, these unregulated monstrosities are praying on the fears of parents while physically, emotionally and sexually abusing young people in facilities that wouldn’t meet prison standards, let alone standards for schools or hospitals. These programs often look very much like boarding schools complete with websites that use ...

16 year old son

I have a 16 year old son that has been a problem since birth. He's been diagnosed with ADHD, depression, anxiety, mood disorder----you name it. His first diagnosis was when he was 7. We've been able to keep him focused through involvement, but he's too old now for us to control. He won't take his meds. He doesn't care about treatment. Its basically like he has quit.

I'm not sure if he's ODD or something ...

Just need some support

Hi there,
I'm new to this site. I have two daughters one 12 and one 14. The younger, I think has ODD. If I had to say at what level, I would say she is a 4 out of 10. She doesn't listen, doesn't do what she is asked without a fight, and is verbally abusive. She will get in your face and just scream at you if she doesn't get her own way. I ...

shutting down / closing down / withdrawing

Not sure if I'm in the right area but my 12yr old son was diagnosed with ODD. I cant really say it's an issue related to ODD but he will shut down when he feels threatened. Like its a neuro defense, he will just go inside his head and you cant reach him at all. He wont respond or anything. Just stares into space or buries his head.

it can be very frustrating. I do ...

ASPCA wrote:Do not scold or punish your cat for . She’s performing a behavior that’s normal for cats, and she won’t understand why you’re angry with her. She’ll most likely just become afraid of you.
This often comes to mind when I think of AsPD or ODD. It seems to me that without a moral sense, punishment would ...

Rights and Privileges

Before the first time you grant a privilege as a reward or deny it as a punishment, do you explain the difference between privileges and rights? Can children with ODD even comprehend the difference?

Frustration and Hope

OBLIGATORY WARNING: This post contains quotations from discussions on the AsPD forum, which "can be triggering for those who have suffered abuse or violent encounters," according to the PsychForums Team.

I know AsPD and ODD aren't the same, but I think both forums may benefit from these particular discussions. Hopefully you will see what I mean (or at least see the humor at the end ;)).

In ...
