Perseverance as a problem

As a child of 11-12-13 years of age when I wanted to do something I did it. I wanted to make a videogame so I learned programming, physics, math all by myself from books and common sense and so many trying and failing. Do you know how hard it is for someone to learn programming with no tutorial, no help, no internet?

This was not the only time I showed insane levels of perseverance. My ...

Why don't N's miss people?

From what I've read, I'm assuming that an N never misses anyone. They can go weeks, months, years without seeing someone and not care. Is that right?

If so, what is it about NPD that causes this?

Is it possible for an N to miss a specific person as opposed to missing supply in general?

Why are the Narcs here so nice?

Sometimes when I read the advice given by narcs in this forum, I think they sound like caring people, for instance, they tell nons to stay away from their exnarcs. I don't understand why a narc would give such advice.

Why are the Narcs here so nice and caring?

Test: Psychopath/Narc/Histrionic PD

Would be intresting to hear, what others get as a result.
No, these tests are not the absolute truth, or even close. But just as curiosity 8)

I got:
There are strong indications that you might have a
histrionic personality disorder.
There is, however, no scientific test to confirm this diagnosis other than to verify the symptoms by subjective means. Thus, some people may be wrongly ...

dealing with Narcissist

This is probably one of the most common threads on here, I thought I would add my opinion, I dont need to add my opinion, I would like to. I had encountered an N last night, how frustrating they are. Even having such an intimate knowledge of the disorder, encountering it as a Non, I don't know how most people deal with them. I caught the N in a bold face lie, the N had ...

How the brain works: A-Z in a nutshell

The emotion of fear

Pure fear with absence of any other emotions is felt as terror or impending doom - a fear without a consciously known origin.

It is quite rare to feel pure fear as there is usually a consciusly known origin. The emotion of pure fear can be induced chemically via kappa opioid receptor agonists. Salvia Divinorum is a plant that achieves exactly that.

"Unpure" fear is felt when there is an origin ...

Does he REALLY want to see his kids??

Hi, my ex narc left 6 months ago and since then he has seen 2 of our 3 kids twice. Right at the start. There has been no phone contact between them and only a few texts where the conversation always ends with him telling them to stop texting and don't talk to him. He's refused all invites to come see them and has been very rude and nasty to me. ...even though I have ...

Why, oh why, oh why...?!!!

Why on Earth people are so quick to pass a casual and rather DIY "diagnosis" of their ex being a narcissist instead of looking at their own obsessed, needy and vindictive selves?

Why on Earth those who have ever been involved with a supposed narcissist think that they know everything about the condition and they have the authority to standardize them?

Why those who have been hurt by a narcissist partner think that they have ...

How the brain works: Removing doubt

I don't think I've seen this explained anywhere, it was simply something I thought of, something that naturally resulted from all the thinking done for the dissecting NPD thread.

Here's how the brain works explained so you can understand it.

The brain is constantly removing doubts. This is what all the self-talk is about, this is what half of people behavior is about, that is what narcissism is definitely about.

A person, especially an NPDer ...

How NPDs react to Narcissistic Injury

(Everything below is written based on my personal experience as a Cerebral NPD.)

Narcissistic Injury occurs when the Narcissist's pathological space is interrupted by someone or something that threatens to convince the Narcissist that the character or storyline he is creating simply isn't true. The Narcissist's pathological space is the sphere that he creates in order to obtain supply. So, for example, a Narcissist in a powerful professional position who is abruptly humiliated while on ...
