I came across this board yesterday. I had a 5-month relationship with a guy whom I've gradually thought to be "narcissist" (I don't know if he's clinically diagnosed, just my impression). I didn't know much about the NPD, I just had a general idea about it thanks to some readings I did in the past. As I didn't know about strategies or tendencies, I caught myself in a very bad situation and reacted angrily ...

Just a curiosity, it somehow doesn't/didn't fit in the picture. But of course all NPDs are not similar and have their own special features. So there probably isn't any real answers.
By this I mean stereotypical movement you have to do regurlarly. And it's amplified when you are nervous etc.
This sort of things just seems to have connection to some other neurological problems.

Mr. Crazy and I broke up late last September. I'll skip over all the fun abusive parts. I went NC right away (I told him I needed to not be in contact with him.) He made one small attempt to contact me and I didn't respond.

Fast forward a few months and contact resumed and I essentially found out pretty much every damaging thing that they are so famous for doing. I didn't allow myself ...

How might one react? What might one do?

I sat down for dinner with one of my N parents (I'm NC with the other one), and I was told by that parents to "open up" to him. I told him that asking me bluntly to open up is not a natural way for me to open up and I'd never open up that way. I even told him that it was a contrived, but he didn't grasp what I meant even when I ...

Can anybody explain why they do this?

I saw the ex on Saturday. First time we've really spoken in weeks. He was relatively friendly, we made a bit of small talk.

Next day I'm back there, he completely ignored me. Had his back turned to me as I walked in, didn't turn around and say "hello". A short time later, he walked right past me in his lounge room, didn't look at me or acknowledge ...

I was figuring npd trauma is deeper and that defense mechanism would take priority, the supply need would always take prioirty, but perhaps I am wrong. If the supply source has emotionally aroused the bpd defense to the point where the comorbid must paint the supply completely black, the comorbid could perhaps do this to most of their supply and isolate themselves.

I am fascinated by the subject, but must admit to ...

So this man who, at the least, has narcissistic traits is confusing me. We've been friendly for the past two years. Due to some strange behavior on his part, I've kept him at arms length. It hasn't been difficult since he does not seek emotional intimacy. If things get too personal, BAM, he's gone. Yet he still comes back indirectly seeking attention and superficially flirting.
