Adult survivors

Are any adult survivors of MSBP still in contact with the one who abuse them?

I'm curious to know how others handle the relationship, if any.

pregnant and under going investigations for msbp

Hi,
I am 27 weeks pregnant and my gp has written to children's services alerting him to concerns around my health and the possibility of me having munchausens syndrome although he states there is no confirmed diagnosis. This has caused childrens services to instigate child protection enquiries. They are asking to access my medical records to do a health chronology which will be kept on my child's file. This seems really invasive that all this ...

Trying so hard to remember...

Hi,

i am writing here the first time. Please excuse my English i am not a native speaker but nevertheless i will try to tell...

In my family there is no "healthy" handling of diseases, it is more kind of a horrible fear and attraction at the same time. I can not really remember everything and the things i remember do not make so much sense.

The first time i was in a hospital i ...

Does my sister have msbp? neice is just 18wks old

My mum suspects that my sister has msbp, now that she has raised the concern to me I realise she may be right & I'm so worried, but I don't have a clue what to do. The medical profession have not raised any concerns & we have no evidence whatsoever, except my sister's past & her personality. If I raise any formal concerns, & I'm wrong, I would feel awful & my sister would quite ...

What to do when you think a child is being damaged by MbP?

A member of my extended family is causing us some concern. She's got a four year old daughter who has mild learning difficulties, but it appears to everyone else in the family that she is trying to make the learning difficulties seem much greater than they are - she has a track record of exaggerating illnesses herself in order to garner sympathy (I've lost count of the terminal illnesses she has - unfortunately, stupidity doesn't ...

MSBP Diagnosis/Emotional Abuse Only?

I have a question. I posted regarding the NPD man from whom I recently fled over on the NPD forum. He claims he has custody of his eldest, special needs child, because the mother has been diagnosed with MSBP. If this were the case, why would the mother still have custody of the other three younger children? And has there been precedent set for MSBP diagnoses utilizing only emotional abuse?

The NPD I speak of ...

Can MBP start in utero?

Hi everyone,

It wasn't until I started seeing my current therapist that any real questions were raised about my upbringing and, more specifically, my mother's parenting methods. As soon as that came up a gigantic can of worms was opened.

Anyway, when going over the history of how mom dealt with me, it became clear that she thrived on visiting doctors with me. During this time in her life, she was in perfect health. There ...

Munchausens by proxy victim?

Hello, I've just been trying to find out more about munchausens by proxy as it has just been suggested to me that my parents and sister may be suffering. Unusually the original perpatrator seems to be my father and yet for the majority of my life I believed my mother to be narcissistic or suffering from hypochondria.

I came from what anyone would perceive to be a normal middle class family. We lived in a ...

Have I Been Poisoned?

Over the past nearly year I hired a babysitter who was helping me during my pregnancy. The father wasn't around and I have two other children, and a very busy career. I really needed the help.

She appeared very very helpful, but over time various inconsistencies began to make it clear that she has a problem with compulsive lying. She also stole from me from time to time. As these events appeared minor in nature ...
