Going at it alone

Hi guys,

In the past all I've wanted is to not be alone. But now I'm in a great marriage and life is generally good and all I want is to be alone to sit in my depression. I saw someone and starting working on my crap in college. And life just got in the way once I graduated. I think I've always had some form of low grade depression my whole life and I've ...

Hi everyone, newly diagnosed bipolar here

After years of perusing these forums, I had an hour long initial intake with a well-regarded psychiatrist yesterday who diagnosed me with bipolar disorder. Since it took a while to discuss my experiences, etc, we are meeting again today to discuss medication and treatment options.
I am at once relieved and shocked. Relieved, because this explains so much of my life especially the past few years of my twenties. Shocked, because in the years of ...

bipolar trauma (from someone in remission) TW: s/h

hi all,

When i was 17-18-19-20 my bipolar 2 disorder was an extremely heavy burden on my life. I was hospitalized frequently for suicide attempts, botched self harm jobs, and one psychotic break that left me incapacitated for months.
But then, once i had nothing to lose (no friends, no school, no job, just my parents), i got a therapist i liked, then a psychiatrist. tried a few different medications, found one that really helped, ...

Making Your Antidepressants Stronger with Thryroid Meds?

Sometimes psychiatrists will prescribe thyroid medications to augment antidepressants in patients who have treatment resistant depression.

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with thyroid meds in treating their depression?

And if so, what symptoms of depression they found it helpful for?

My psychiatrist has prescribed me Cytomel (Liothyronine) to go with my antidepressant in hopes of amping up their effect.

I have to wait before starting due to some weird blood tests that came in, ...

Experiences with Gabapentin?

I don't know much about Gabapentin as a mood stabilizer (or any people who take it), so I'm wondering if anyone here can share what mental health symptoms it has been helpful for?

How can I start looking forward to the future?

Recently, I had a bit of an epiphany, I think. When I was a kid, I looked forward to the future. The future seemed bright, and full of possibility. Then one day, I'm not sure when exactly but sometime during adolescence I guess, I stopped looking forward to the future. The future became something unknown and bleak, and I stopped looking forward to it. As a kid, I looked forward to when I would someday ...

Like Looking in a Mirror

I have been binge watching a series in which the protagonist is bipolar. It's hard for me to watch because I see myself and it's embarrassing. The drastic mood swings, the anger, the over-the-top behavior. I have, on-and-off for years tried to say that I'm not bipolar, but in watching this series it's like looking in a mirror.

Error

20 years ago if someone told me the things i know now, i would have thought they were mentally ill and think they need a psychiatrist. Now 20 years later i think of this and i am now that person who is labeled mentally ill for what i know. It's a lonely place to be. I'm in a very painful place. My family, loved ones, ex-psychiatrist have conspired against me, yet of course it looks ...
