Does it sound like my son has HPD or something else?

For the past few years, I've struggled to understand what type of mental disorder my 34 year-old son has. I thought he had BPD, but now I'm wondering if he has NPD or HPD. He seems to have facets of more than one. Please tell me what you think. It may give me greater insight into his psyche. I'm at a loss about how to deal with him or help him.

1. He's in and ...

Quite HPD?

Are all HPD's extroverted or is there such thing as a "quite/introverted" HPD?

I see a lot of traits of HPD in myself, however they are much more subtle than an "extroverted" HPD. I always have the need/want for attention and drama and have a chronic boredom in me. I also tend to attention seek online posting pictures of myself for compliments or starting arguments online when I'm bored to get attention. I tend to ...

Curing Histrionic through choice, love, spirituality

I had an epiphany 5 months ago and realised that i was histrionic. I spent three days in bed horrified by my behaviour then took an oath to choose to be a better person. I went about an awakened path of having at first about 500 realisations a day about my behaviour, the way i held my body, the way my voice changed so forth. This progressed to me starting to explore some more of ...

how did you act in school?

In High School I always felt uncomfortable when I didnt have attention and I would do really crazy and embarrasing things such as bang my head on desk or scream out of nowhere, or pull leaves off of trees and hand them out to random people, fake ilnesses, sit on the floor, etc. These were all me acting out for attention. I dont know if that classidies as HPD but now that ive graduated and ...

Newly diagnosed hpd and bpd combo...

Hi. I'm new here and trying to figure things out. Therapy is all fun and games and I don't mind sharing my stories with the woman while she analyzes my past etc etc, but figuring out part of the problem 33 years into life and 12 years into marriage has done nothing for me besides scare the hell out of my husband.

I made a less than great choice a few months back that set ...

Question for HPDs and non-HPDs

I have an HPD friend who doesn't know she has HPD. I've known her for many years and had cut her out of my life for several because I didn't know how to continue at the time. Things are much different for me now--life is simpler--and I've missed her and have always cared about her, so we've started talking again.

My question is, what is the right response when she ignores a text? For someone ...

HPD and Happiness

I'm f****d up. Severely f****d up. I never asked to be like this. I never asked to be born. I look at other people in my life and become jealous: they are happy. They can be happy because they are normal. I will never be normal. Which means I will never be happy. All those meaningful, intimate relationships other people have? I will never experience that. Do I even possess the capacity for the genuine ...

No Drama Qeens Allowed

I am feeling pretty sad today, and in recent weeks, and particularly as I have started to engage on these forums it has become quite evident that no one has an appreciation for the dramatic persona. That part of myself I see as part of my HPD traits... attention seeking and flamboyant, artsy and creative. I like that part of me even as there are other parts that I don't. But clearly others don't. There ...

Differentiating Borderline and Histrionic Personalities

So in an effort to understand the differences between BPD and HPD, I have been doing an obsessive online research (this is what I do when I need to understand a topic) to figure out the subtle nuances that characterize a diagnosis from one vs. the other. And in my travels came across some pearls of wisdom disseminated by professionals for professionals for this express purpose, and consequently thought to pass it along here.

HPD traits & BPD

Ok, so I am diagnosed with BPD, and it is definitely the label that sticks. I hit all criteria from self-harm to rage to emotionality and unstable relationships.... And although the recognition of the diagnosis was upsetting, I have come to terms with it and am moving forward.

But now it would seem that that is not all... I also have HPD traits as well. I did know this before as I realized when researching ...
