elusive hpd's...butterflies with a powerful sting

I think the thing that hooks victims of severe hpd’s into a continuing state of self-doubt and guilt (such as warum has experienced) is a confusion over the very essence of what constitutes the inner workings of the severe hpd…namely their superficiality, the elusive quality of their nature and their hollowness. This essence being in direct contrast to the outward appearance they wish to portray to the world and what they wish others to believe ...

Insecurity or Arrogance?

My ex-girlfriend is likely HPD, although never diagnosed. We were together for 2 years. During that time, I started picking up on things about her. She was always considered "special" by people who were around her, like they made her out to be better than other people. Everything she did she stood out or apart. Her friends, the people that clung to her, were sycophants.

Is this a typical HPD trait, the need to feel ...

HP style versus disorder? Dramatic's vs. Passive-Aggressive

Discovering this forum has profoundly reminded me of the powerfull impact of my mother and a grandmother on my lover-preferences. (Or at least a certain strain of them.)
The distinction of HP Style versus the Disorder (See http://www.psychpage.com/learning/libra ... n/his.html) - which I've known from 10-15 years ago - I've fond very unhelpful in sorting out their differences. By contrast, All Bernstein's "Ham'" versus Passive-Aggressives, the obvious drama queens" ...

Are HDPs less suceptible to depresssion?

I know "mylife might dispute this, but in my experience, if an person has been clinically depressed, he or she is unlikely to be HDP. On the other hand, genuine HDPs are tyically resiliant - cheerful, optimistic - and haven't been eith er much affected or changed by the experience of depression.

TO me, this lack of insight into depression accounts for my HDP mother's failure to manage my father's descent into (psychotic) depression, losing ...

Newbie... BPD and HPD...

Hmm... where to start. My name's Meghan. I'm 16. I've been struggling with all kinds of mental problems for years and have been diagnosed with tons of things. I know for certain that I;m borderline and the other day when I was having a total meltdown I was talking to my therapist on the phone and she's like, "Sometimes I really think you have histrionic personality disorder." and at that point I really knew nothing ...

"outing" an HDP on the web - debate pros and cons, please!

On 3 Oct, mylife wrote:

"STOP ALL CONTACT. MOVE ON. That will show her more than anything else that you are done and that she needs help.

"As long as you continue any communication with her, you will tied up in her bs. STOP NOW and get someone real."

Fine advice.

But what about "outing" an HPD on the web? Posting their malicious neglect ...

Adult survivor of HPD parent

Wow, I'm glad I found this forum. I'm 51 and trying to come to terms with dealing with a mother that is/was/has HPD. Growing up with her for both my brother and I was a nightmare. Mother could be the dictionary definition of HPD. My father was emotionally withdrawn making him the perfect textbook mate for her.
She grew up in a home where both her mother and brother were hospitalized for schizophrenia. I'm don't ...

Why am I thinking too much about this? When I don't want to.

Okay, I really didn't want to post because I feel like I'm prolonging everything. But I feel someone might help me get this woman out of my head. I've managed to stop thinking of her as a potential mate, but I still feel there is some aspect of her which controls me.

In the beginning, she started working at my company, and there was an obvious attraction. She is drop dead gorgeous. Was well aware ...
