Has anyone experienced a feeling of ants crawling up his feet or little needles being stuck into them, constantly?

My therapist says this is a sign of anxiety (hypochondriasis).

My GP is not to worried and sent me to take some tests, nothing too urgent.

My boyfriend has bipolar disorder and also suffers severe axiety. Although I've had my share of axiety I'd like to know if anyone can tell me what it is like and what I can do to help him. I am very familier with mental illness so I'm very intrested in this.
