the start of it

Hello i have come for some guidance to this forum.

As of right now i am 18 years old and have really been gambling since the age of 15.

Im at an all time low now with not a penny left and zero motivation to continue anything at all.

Gambling Addicts In Your Family?

Hi Everyone! I wanted to know if there are gambling addicts in your family. My father never gambled a day in his life, but my mother has gambled everyday for the past 54 years. I wonder if somehow I inherited this gambling gene.

My uncle is also a huge gambling addict. His rock-bottom was 8 years ago when a loan shark sent out a group of men to beat him to near-death when my uncle ...

don't minimize this illness

This illness is devastating. Any attempts to minimize the seriousness of this problem, will end in misery. I know that there are people in prison who felt more free and peaceful than I did when I was gambling. You don't get treatment for it, you don't recover. It's pretty simple.

Gambling Is More Than Just Gambling

My gambling addiction is going to be a tough one to break. I have OCD and BPD, and I find those issues easier to handle than my gambling addiction. Why? Gambling is more than just putting money in a machine or on a table and placing a bet. This is why I find gambling so attractive:

unattainable dream//enjoying some quiet and peace of mind

It's Sunday morning and I am drinking coffee and listening to some Coltrane and Ellington. I can't help but think of how I am enjoying this feeling of tranquility. After all, my mind was a clutterbox full of angst and despair not long ago. I still don't comprehend why I have always choses chaos over peace of mind. There was an old time GA member who lost his law license and has since passed who ...

Breaking the cycle...

Hi everyone, I've posted on here a while back (on a different alias) and thought I'd provide an update.

I've been gambling for the last 10 years (between ages of 20 to 30), and things didn't get too serious until the last 5 years since working full time (although the red flags were there from my uni days). The vicious cycle continues and I'm at a stage of my life where either this addiction destroys ...

Day 1 blues

Day 1: Why is it that gamblers have SUCH a short-term memory. I left the casino in the early hours of this morning feeling like garbage because I had won a bit of money and then plowed it all back into the machines. I can ill afford it because I've been unemployed for a while now. Self exclusion passed through my mind as I left, but then I decided against it. I've self excluded several ...

GamAnon vs Gamblers Anonymous

I sincerely apologize in advance if this is a topic that's been beaten into the ground (as I am new here). But I was just doing an internet search to find out if there are meeting places locally to me. That's when I discovered these are two separate things. Which one? Whats the difference? Thanks
