Existential Crisis

I relapse again tonight and over the years i’ve gambled away my life savings. The gambling started in my twenties when I started to have an existential crisis because I was diagnosed with cancer twice and it left me with a chronically illness to this day (i’m almost 40 now). I can’t seem to deal with life when facing or thinking about death and resort to gambling. Any advice would be helpful because right now ...

Is Self-Exclusion Useful?

I am in discussion in another forum about self-exclusion, and I feel like I'm being in minority because most of the forum members say that self-exclusion is pointless and useless and the gambler needs to control his actions by himself and work on his own self-control and discipline.

Can you please share your own opinion to this notion? I'd just love to show other people that they (and not the gamblers) are the ones living ...

my journey thru gambling addiction

Gambling has destroyed my life, here is my story.

I started online poker when I was 16 than I transitioned to everything. I always had an entrepreneur mind and when I was 16 I was already making money selling goods on Ebay. I was making couple thousand a month, not bad for a kid in highschool, so I stopped going to school and focused on the business. That was the same time I started playing ...

What changes have you noticed since being gamble free?

There are 3 things I have noticed since being gamble free:

1. I have a new found respect for money. Working a partime job for minimum wage really makes you realize how long it takes to make a buck. I will never just give my money away again.

2. Rest and relaxation. I don't have to get up in the middle of the night to check my bank account to assess how much damage I ...

Wife serious gambling addiction

Not really sure how to start this-

My wife has had this addiction for 5+ years. She has killed our account or bills too many times and Christmas is next month with 6 kids and a grandchild. I dont know if I want to do this marriage anymore.

I love my wife, but we've fought so many times about this topic. She has lost her car to gambling, lost paychecks, 2 payday loans, cashed in ...

New Here..Canadian

Hello all, new member but have lurked this forum over the years when times were rough emotionally, and looked for solace. I've been a compulsive gambler for 20 years. I'm 48 now. It's been 4 weeks since being ALMOST gamble free. I say almost because I played $45 on an online bingo site last Friday.

To be honest, I'm okay with the $45. That is just a drop in the bucket of what I would ...

Moving Forward...so Mad at Myself....

Hi all,

I finally put myself on the self-exclusion list for online gambling, and I think I am ready to move forward

I've been saving for a down payment for a house for several years now. I had worked my way up to $60-65k, getting closer to what I needed for a down payment. Then I found my way to the online casinos.... For the past 3-4 months I have been hypnotized by online blackjack ...

The Thoughts of a Sports Bettor

Even though I am 3.5 years gamble free, the thoughts of gambling still go through my head. I have learned that we can't control these thoughts and I shouldn't feel bad about having them. What I can control is my actions and as long as I don't gamble, that's the important thing.

A thought I recently had was about the World Series of baseball. One team was about to be eliminated, but I though that ...
