Student with lots of debts to friends

Hi guys

I am a poker player, so to speak, and in poker bankroll management is key. However, I have always failed in this regard. Despite being quite an academically bright person, and certainly a decent poker player, my degen tendencies and awful bankroll management and desire to chase losses mean eventually I am always broke.

Last time I was broke I told my parents and they said they'd help me out that time but ...

Feeling depressed over my loses....

It all started innocently in the year 2006 with 1 dollar bets at black jack tables. My 9 year addiction to black jack wiped out my savings. I' m left with only 36000 dollars in savings. Actually it should be way over 100000 dollars in savings. My repetitive attempts to stop gambling failed many times. My recent binge gambling wiped out at least 20000 dollars. I' m holding strong not to spend my remaining savings. ...

Hell of a blackjack ride... Pun intended

Well... Where do I start. I've been a ghost follower on here for months (even when I was 'winning') I've heard a lot of wise words from people like big green lake and sunrising but it has bothered me the lack of detail in some people's full blown gambling addictions. So here I go... My name is farfromperfect I'm 23 years old and a compulsive gambler... Never thought I would be saying that. I've gone ...

are online casinos rigged

Have been reading a lot of the posts on here .
This has got me to this point in my thinking (topic are online casinos rigged).
When I only spun for 0.45p a few times I won £600.00. Granted I was still using up a fair bit of cash each week I could afford it but still madness. I think they do that early on to reel you in. When I upped stakes to sometimes ...

Unexpected expense - brief crazy thought...

Hi,

I recently received a bill for an unexpected expense which I hadn't budgeted for. Unfortunately my previous chaotic gambling lifestyle had desimated my savings, my focus in the last 9 months has been to erode the gambling "souvenir" left behind of thousands of debt. Once this has gone for good (2.5 years) I will start saving again in earnest.

Well, for one crazy moment I contemplated gambling to take care of this unexpected bill. ...

Koopla's thread

So I am at this moment in the grips. Strategies for staying Gamble Free

I found a ton of good advice on this forum and I would like to pass on some of the methods that helped me get through the first few months of my recovery . I tried a lot of different things to battle my gambling urges - some worked , some didn't . I kept the ones that did and continued to search for new things to aid me in my fight .

These are ...

Welcome to the forum, NOW LET IT GO!

There is some recent talk on here about chasing losses and that was also a topic at the last GA meeting I attended. It is good to hear others say that it is pointless to chase losses because the only outcome is to add to our losses and make things worse. And thinking about our losses is one of the biggest triggers we have to deal with.

So if you're new hear just take a ...

One problem since stopping

I am very relieved to no longer throw my money away gambling. But I have gained weight since stopping. That will be my next task -- to lose.

Even though I have gained weight, it is still better than spending my time in those horrible casinos. I want to get healthy again in every way.

Maybe I will join TOPS or OA.

Same story, different day

Hello all -

I'm posting for the first time here, but you've certainly heard a story like this before.

My problem is with online "skill" cash games, e.g. word and puzzle games. About nine years ago, I overdrew my bank account by thousands of dollars playing games on the exact same site. I stopped when I had to borrow money to get myself out of the red and pay my rent.

Then, about four months ...
