Is it Asperger's or quirkiness?

Hi there,

I recently began dating someone and suspect that he may have Asperger's. He's a professional and is quite intelligent, seems to have some friends at work, but seems a little "off." Some examples include problems with language, including a somewhat pedantic way of speaking and problems moderating volume, use of obscure references, and long silences. He is keen on researching vague topics or trivia concerning things that seem inconsequential, such as a particular ...

Hi Everybody!
I've been browsing this site for a while now and I've been very
encouraged by what I've seen. I posted in the relationship forum
months ago but this forum seems more on topic for my issues.
I would really appreciate some insight on the situation that I'm in
right now.

I'll try to keep this short - though it may be difficult. :D

I ...

Extreme silent treatment tearing me apart [unk problem]

A guy that I care very much about has been giving me the silent treatment for about three weeks now, and I'm breaking down. I don't even know what he's feeling, and, more than anything, I want to be able to reconcile with him. I'm pretty sure he has some sort of personality disorder, which makes things that much harder. We do have a bit of history:

I've known him for about two years total, ...

Attractive friend with possible HPD

Hi,

I'm friends with a girl who I suspect of having HPD. Extremely attractive and gregarious but with an huge addiction to attention. She is a very creative, fun personality in social situations.

We talked for a long time and I genuinely thought she was interested in me (aren't men dumb ;P) but it turns out she just wanted to be friends. But friends in a strange way I guess in that I could see ...

my nightmare [unk-possible fam member w mental illness]

Hi there,
I'm not sure where to post this. If this isn't the right spot, please point me in the right direction. Here is my story.
In 2009, my husband started hearing voices. He was recording music in his shed and on playback, he heard whispering... lots of sexual stuff. At first he thought it was the neighbor's tv. Then he thought there were ghosts. One afternoon, he said the ghosts were here and actually ...

98% sure my wife is bipolar. she is on prozac only. help

So a year ago or so a psychologist pretty much diagnosed my wife with bipolar. There wasnt any official and we stopped seeing that doc shortly after so nothing ever came of it. My wife then went to a GP and gave her a relatively quick questionaire that resulted in the GP being very worried about my wife and also suggesting bipolar.

She was prescribed prozac and devalporex. She stopped taking devalporex because it was ...

PLEASE INCL. POSS. CONDITIONS in the titles of YOUR THREADS

Guys, when you make a new thread, can you please specify which disorder you're referring to in the title. This will help you to get support and advice from others who can particularly identify with you, although of course having the view point from a wider cross section can also be helpful too. :D :D It's good ...

BPD Trait: Retaliation / Infliction of Emo Reaction or Pain?

I really get the sense that my ex, throughout our 1 year friendship (8 mo flirting, 2 mo dating, 2 mo new supply), has consistently tried to break me down emotionally with passive-aggressive behaviors. Since reconnecting as friends after her ignoring me for 2 months, she tends to probe more about how much it hurt me with her leaving and if I hated her, than about anything else. funny thing is she's shed tears while ...

Healing childhood wounds (BPD)

Hello,

Growing up with a mother who has BPD has left many wounds that I have ignored for many years. I am now 27 and feel like these wounds/scars from my abuse is not allowing me peace within myself. I have always been curious about others who have gone through similar/worse situations and have transcended through this. I have personally met someone who has gone through a similar situation who is at peace with herself ...
