Do I have Munchausen?

Hi

I've been diagnosed with Depression and Cluster B and C Personality Disorder Traits and am receiving Schema Therapy and general CBT. I'm starting to wonder whether I actually have Munchausen's Syndrome. I'll give a little background:

Born in 1981 and around 1983 my doctor discovered I had Hypospadias and required surgery, had several surgeries (to date 9 for Hypospadias). Around about aged 5 at nursery school I started biting my arms and making myself ...

It all started when...

Thinking back, there are quite a few things that would have triggered my Munchausen Syndrome, especially from a young age. I'm just wondering if anyone else can remember where or why it started, or even just the first time they lied. Here's mine.

I was the victim of Munchausen by Proxy - but that doesn't count yet.

It started with the typical ' not wanting to go to school.' If I told my parents i ...

I'm pretty sure I have it

But I can't get professional help, or tell my friends.
They will say that I am a "manipulative bitch".
It is so painful to finally say that.
I'm glad I found this site, I needed it.

I am sad, mad and lost. I don't know what to do.
I feel like I should feel some really intense pain to pay for what I've been doing.

I don't wanna die.

This is so hard to watch

My mother in law is in her mid-eighties. She's displayed factitous disorder behavior, if not outright Munchausen's Syndrome, for decades. Of course, this means that there is no end to stories to tell about things she's done to herself. Most recently, she's had real diseases to contend with, including heart disease, congestive heart failure, a stroke, and now some mild dementia. The dementia is enough to lead my husband, who is an only child, to ...
