Adult with mild dyslexia...need help?

Hi there.

I'll try and keep this short: basically, growing up I was always a little slower than the others in class. I remember specifically having problems with putting things in the correct order, and then I recall getting very anxious and not being able to follow steps very easily. When I look back, I remember feeling very confused and anxious in school as a kid. I was a bit slow with reading, and my ...

Adult Dyslexia

I can't think of a better title, since I've had these symptoms all my life but never diagnosed.

So I have had learning problems all my life, ones exactly like dyslexia. Describing the symptoms would basically be like reading out all the symptoms of dyslexia. As a kid I would write backwards, could barely read, had so many problems that many teachers would take my parents aside or school aids aside telling them upfront that ...

What benefits come from officially being diagnosed?

I am fairly certain my 9 year old son is dyslexic. He never really did well with reading, and finally when he was in 2nd grade, I asked the school to have him tested. He was falling behind, and I was concerned. They did all sorts of testing and had the school district's psychologist evaluate him as well. His IQ was extremely high and math scores were really high, but reading was EXTREMELY low. They ...

The gift of Dyslexia

Hey guys,

A friend of mine has dyslexia and recently read 'the gift of dyslexia'. After reading the book he said "Its like a manual for my brain". I thought this was pretty interesting so i read it.

Even though i'm not dyslexic, WOW, that book just blew me away. The way it talks about controlling your dyslexia and seeing it as a positive thing is baffling. :o ...

Looking For an Explanation

I tutor dyslexic students here in the USA and have a technique that is unique, to say the least. I'm looking for some explanations of why this simple intervention/accommodation works so well over and over again. This video is of my newest student:

What assistance can my illiterate friend get, he is an adult

I have a friend who I suspect has dyslexia. I'm not a doctor or clinical psychologist but after reading about various reading disorders I think dyslexia matches best. He cannot write and has a difficult time reading, often failing to correctly read even simple sentences in text messages. This is affecting him in that he cannot get a job that requires a personality test because he cannot read the questions sufficiently. Also people do not ...

What Good is a Forum When Members Don't Communicate?

I was very excited to find this forum almost 2 months ago, but I'm curious why people don't respond? Obviously, there are people viewing according to the view counter. Not only did I post a few things myself, but I also responded to a few of the topics already there.

Since February 8th not one response to any posts....
Why? :?:
