I dont Know

I don’t really know what’s wrong, but I have done some research and this almost sounds right… I was hoping maybe someone could tell me if it sounds like DID. Or if I am just crazy.

I can’t remember my childhood. It’s almost completely blacked out. But nothing bad happened that I know of. We (me and my family) went to Disney world when I was 13 and I can’t remember the trip. I spend ...

scared

A little brutally honest but here it goes...

For about 15 years (I'm a 34 year old female) I've been occasionally having weird things happen after I've had a few drinks. Okay, wait, I know this isn't an alcohol forum -- not so many drinks that would necessarily render one purely silly, but enough to become, well, relaxed. And firstly, I suspect something really bad happened to me when I was a child, and I ...

DID/MPD...Agoraphobia any connection?

Can anyone tell me what critria does a person need to meet to be diagnoised with DID/MPD? The reason I ask is that I'm agoraphobic and have been treated for this problem on/off for the last 20 plus years with little or no lasting success. Now you may think I'm in the wrong forum but a thought passed my mind that possibly I have a "form" of DID/MPD. Please bare with me on this one. ...

Male 'alters' aren't always dangerous.

I think the idea that a male 'alter' in someone with DID is necessarily bad or aggressive isnt' always so, nor that its necessarily associated with sexual abuse only. Someone could grow up with a very masculine mother with pathological hatred of girls in which its not safe to be female. In my case my male 'character' was based on a civil rights leader, MArtin Luther King. Imagine growing up like a Jew under Hitler ...

Need Help & Advice

Hello

I am in therapy right now. This year I was in and out of psychiatric wards 3 times. Some of the professionals have been insistent that I have a dissociative identity disorder. My therapist does not believe they exist. I could use a second opinion from people going through this...

I was raped when I was 9 years old. I lost 4 1/2 years after that where nothing is available to me. I lost ...

Hello all, (funny title hey lol) Anyway I split from an ex boyfriend but I know he still contacts me through msn. I do not have concrete evidence because under a different hot mail address. My GF

My girlfriend told me she has DID. I am totally ok with this and find it very interesting. What concerns me though is her abilty to introduce me to her alters. She wrote me an email and formally indroduced me to her alter then allowed her alter to finnish this email. I never realized that DID was voluntary. Can many people with DID do this?

Treatments that Help

I know there are many different forms of treatment for DID. I have gone through a 30-day visit in a hospital that specialized in it (Dr. Colin Ross), a few visits to week-long hospitals with no treatment (Colorado has no choices for help if you don't have insurance), just medication, intense therapy and a new class I'm taking, DBT. Dialectical Behavior Therapy, by Marsha Linehan.

Has anyone else heard of DBT and the effects it ...

Memory loss

I'm hoping somebody here can give me some answers. I think my therapist is starting to suspect that I have DID. I do hear voices. There is more than one. They talk to me and to each other. The thing I'm unsure of though is that she asked me about memory loss. The example she used is have I ever wore something and had no recollection of putting it on. I can't say that I ...

I'm not sure, but I think I might possibly have DID

My friends first brought it to my attention awhile ago that something was "different" about me. Like on some days they said I acted 'funny' and not like myself, and yet I have no memory of doing or saying anything they told me I had done and said. And once I supposedly ate coconut, my grandma told me I did, but I couldn't have because I'm allergic to it. But my grandma kept insisting that ...
