support group

Has anyone ever joined a support group? If so did you join one for the families of schizophrenia, bipolar or depression? There is a little of everything in delusion disorder, but mainly there is psychosis. Does that mean it fits best into schizophrenia?

Did going to a support group help or was it more of a waste of time. I'm not sure if I should look for one or not. Anyone have any other ideas ...

prognosis

Hi again. I have posted previously under "confused and misguided" My friend has been transferred to a tertiary hospital as she has not improved in 3 weeks and is refusing to take her meds as prescribed. I believe she is taking some but not all of what she should be taking. She refused the risperidone and is now getting zypexia. The doc would prefer her to take the risperidone but comprimised with the zyprexia. When ...

Medical/case study question

Does anyone know of any case of Delusional Disorder where the Doctor became part of the patient's delusion? If so, what treatment (not including drugs) was employed? In other words, how did the doctor continue treatment?

Lie detector tests?

I wanted to know if anyone out there has agreed or submitted to a lie detector test to prove to their DD loved one that they are NOT involved in a conspiracy, cheating/seeing someone behind their back, or spying? If so, did it restore trust for the DD person?

If the DD person says that they will believe you if you take the test, will they believe the results once the test proves you are ...

dd friend is finally going to therapy, but... ?

My friend with DD contacted me to say she has taken up my suggestion of going to therapy. But she's going to a counselor who practices something called "social therapy." She went to this therapist a few years ago, and my recollection is that practitioners of social therapy don't believe in mental illness. I guess it makes sense that the one type of therapy she can buy into doesn't think she is ill.

Won't this ...

Good, short research summary of dd

Hi~ My ex has DD and in trying to find out some more info on this, i ran across this article. It is short but offers more info than i usually find when looking for info. I'd be interested in sharing research citations with others who have come across good resources for this.

What a journey...

I am now 40 years old, my parents split when I was 7 and my mother went on to develop DD. I can remember questioning her stories when i was 11. NO one knew except me and my siblings and we were too scared and confused to ask for help. Mum finally got her diagnosis last week. I feel shocked and alone. I need advice as to how I can protect myself from this horrendous ...

Can anyone tell me if I have delusional disorder?

Ever since I was in high school (I am 34 now), I’ve firmly held a belief that my parents are putting some sort of substance into my clothes, water, etc which causes me to become weak. The substance is not deadly as I believe that my parents are doing this to me not because they want to punish me but because they don’t want me to be physically fit and attractive. Indeed, my parents were ...

Forced hospitalization?

For some time, I’ve been reading the messages in this forum, which is the single most helpful source I’ve found on DD. Thank you to all the posters, especially the frequent ones!

As the heading indicates, I’d like to raise a specific topic, but before that, I thought it might be helpful to add yet another "case study" to the forum, so I’ll start off with some personal details…

My mother, a widow in her ...

Very Inexperienced and misguided

Hi Guys, I have a friend who was diagnosed with a delusional disorder 18 months ago. She was convinced she had AIDS and could not understand why we could not see her symptoms or why all of her 4 HIV tests came back negative. Through deception we were able to get her to a hospital where she was diagnosed and treated for a delusional disorder. She spent 4 weeks there and was followed up on ...
