Ideas of Reference

I'm starting to think that music is basically being aimed at me to communicate something (i.e. someone must've called the radio station and requested these songs because they wanted to say something to me - all of them seemed topically related to me) (or, some kind of synchronicity or divinity is trying to communicate or influence me). Really any form of information, visual, audio, verbal (via writing)...

I almost feel like I'm following clues or ...

Delusional Confrontations

If a patient is confronted with a situation where reality stands to directly and undeniably contrast their delusional beliefs how will they react?

A theoretical example:

Individual believes he is a 'hitman' or 'government agent' but when he ultimately finds himself ready to act out his plans how will he act?

In reality the patient is a nonviolent and socially isolated - will he follow through on his 'plan' in order to sustain delusion?

Or ...

Symptoms before full blown DDJ??

I am writing to all of you out there who know someone struggling with DDJ. My questions is, in retrospect, can you think of certain personality traits that may have been early signs of the disease?

My husband very suddenly, at age 44 and after 14 years of marriage, started to accuse me of infidelity. Before, he was a very loving and generous husband, but in retrospect I can think of a few things that ...

leaving my boyfriend..

My boyfriend has lately begun acting progressively weirder, more paranoid, and the more I look up information, the more convinced I am that he has delusional disorder. He's 29. He believes that people at his work are secretly working as spies against the company, and he firmly believes that I am cheating on him. I have never in my whole life cheated on anybody. It started off that he accused me of cheating with one ...

Another DDJ story – same nightmare

Many thanks to all of you for this forum. I am not so alone anymore.

My story is similar to others with a DDJ husband. We have been married for 14 years and have two children. We have been very happy - healthy children, good jobs, and a great place to live. My husband was a wonderful fun person, loving, great father, surrounded by many friends. I remember that before it all started I used ...

Leaving the one you love

As I read many of the other posts, I truly feel for all of those who are currently trying to help their loved one. I also feel quite the internal struggle because I chose to leave. I struggle with feelings of guilt for leaving a person who is ill....unfortunately he doesn't know it.

All of this came as such a shock to me. The person I knew for several years progressively became someone else over ...

A remission update...one year

It's been a very up and down year, for me. Learning to accept the illness, not taking everything personally, setting boundaries. He stopped acting on his delusions in May '07 after more then 6 months of pure hell, you can find other entries on here of our time line and stuff. In Jan. of this year he had a slight relapse. It was really unnerving but compared to the last bout manageable. He has been ...

Herpes type 1 and cognitive problems

There appears to be a link between Herpes (HSV-1) and cognitive malfunction. I have not been able to find any articles linking it to DD but my reading suggests to me that there may be.

There are quite a few linking Schizophrenia and Bi-polar disorders with Herpes. eg http://www.psychiatrictimes.com/display ... 0168/51366

My husband left after 39 years of mildish DD which occurred at irregular intervals. He had had a ...
