I’m never sure if it’s safe to speak.

Normally, I’d just say what was on my mind, using complete sentences to the best of my ability, but over the course of my life I’ve found that first, there’s a big difference between composing on paper or a typewriter, in which case you can spend hours thinking over your work and also have the ability to edit a complete essay before you send it, and regular face to face communication.

Conversational speech isn’t scripted, ...

Audio Description

I find that I struggle to watch television programs and movies

Sometimes I'll watch the same episode 3 times over back to back and I still don't know what's going on
And that's even when I am interested in what I'm watching

Anyway last night when I was in bed I accidentally had the audio description on my tablet and I just couldn't turn it off...i think it was jammed

But I found this to ...

Criticism of Broad Autism Phenotype

I have some criticism of Broad Autism Phenotype.

Broad Autism Phenotype seems to blur the lines between a neurotypical that has persistent autistic traits and a person with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Tha argument can be made is if s person has a diagnosis or not.

There are also some people that have Unspecified Neurodevelopmental Disorder that have symptoms similar to Autism Spectrum Disorder, but they may not meet full diagnostic criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder. ...

Feeling completely drained after planning.

Hi, I've been dealing with a major distraction lately, and I've been wondering if anybody else is dealing with something similar.

In the morning, I like to plan out the day, which is already a little tricky but I usually manage alright.
If something in the plan majorly changes however, I tend to get so distracted/stressed out that I'm useless, not just for an hour or so, but sometimes all day.
It feels like it ...

Superficial understanding of subject despite obsessive focus

An example of what I mean is the console wars. AN aspie I knew could bring out the specs of for example a Wii console and find the most obscure details to prove the Wii is superior to its competitors such as ghz. Yet this same aspie was so blindly a wii fanboy he cannot accept that in the end the PS3 and Xbox 360 is far beyonda league above the Wii in almost everyway. ...

Question about social-emotional reciprocity.

I understand most social cues, but I have severe problems with social-emotional reciprocity.

Why is only understanding social cues not enough?

I tend to show abnormal facial expressions to a mild degree and some abnormal body language as well. It takes a few minutes for people to find out that I have Autism Spectrum Disorder or odd.

Just diagnosed with ASD

I (21, white, born male) went in for a psychological evaluation a couple months ago. I just got the results, and I have been diagnosed with ASD, with specific vulnerabilities noted in my speeded processing, pragmatics & conversation skills, inferential language, and adaptive functioning. I was also diagnosed with PDD and GAD, but I think I have known that for a while now.

After further conversation with the professional, one recommendation I received was to ...

Good age to diagnose personality disorders

Is age 18 too young to diagnose personality disorders? Although you are an adult at that age, you are a teenager still. I think the best age to diagnose personality disorders is at least 25 or 23 at the youngest.

If a person get's diagnosed personality disorder as soon a person turns 18 years old, can the symptoms of it be acute and be improved overtime with help?

Psychology should develop Young Adult Onset Conduct ...
