adult survivor of bullying

Hi, been coming to psychforum a while. Focusing mostly on my bipolar 2.

also thought I'd start reaching out on this forum, since I'm an adult survivor of all sorts of abuse but most esp bullying from childhood, adolescence, and adulthood.

It amazes me what jerks some people can be. I am so glad that our society is slightly recognizing the need to focus on the perpetrator when it comes to bullying, not just the ...

How has bullying affected you?

Has anyone here really examined how childhood bullying affected them as a person? I grew up in an abusive household and ended up bouncing in and out of psych hospitals, which was emotionally damaging in itself, and then landing in a domestically violent relationship for five years. My therapists have been busy and I've had almost no time (and have had aversion to) to thinking about what impact being bullied from age 11-18 had on ...

Does the following characteristics signify a bad boss?

I work in audit and currently am the only person who works under my boss. When I came into the organisation about just under 2 years ago, I noticed a certain creepiness about him (I sensed it) that I wasn't able to put my hands on.
When I went into the audit team, there was 1 admin assistant, and 1 guy who worked as a business continuity/risk officer.
I noticed over the couple of months ...

Targeted at a low ebb?

My self-esteem was so low I went into hiding completely and my foray back into society has been really slow because I've had to find out what the problems were without being told anything. I have been around a lot of insensitive people. I started working in therapy on integration after I'd survived CHF and a psychotic episode in 2013-2014. In 2015 I was bullied and I had severe privacy invasions. I was harassed on ...

Did I go too far?

Sorry this is a bit long...
My son is 6 years old, in grade 1
There is a very problematic child in his class, he hits, pushes, punches, kicks everyone, at every opportunity he gets...
In Kindergarten, this child even threatened to kill my son... yes, they are only 5, but it's still a big deal to threaten to murder a classmate...
This has been ongoing and seems to be escalating in severity...
All throughout ...

Is bullying among adults worse?

I don't really understand the anti-bullying campaign right now for children. It seems to totally ignore bullying among adults. From my experience and observation, I think bullying among adults is actually worse than among children. The issues may be different, but I still interpret it as bullying. Children bully because someone has freckles or big ears, whereas adults bully usually over money or politics. It goes on continuously. It seems hypocritical for adults to tell ...

Classmates spat on my daughter's food.

My 10 year old daughter has been consistent teased for her quiet and shy nature by classmates since she was 8 years old, but the problems have recently escalated. Our family is considered upper middle class, as are her peers, though I have noticed that many of her peers come from single mother households, where the mother is in serious relationship with a boyfriend, but some of these kids lack a father's attention. Other kids ...
