News of Brief Psychotic Disorder

Well, as I have never been to a professional about this (not real wealthy and I don't have insurance) I'm not even sure if this is remotely the right area to be posting in, so if anyone has a better idea of what this might be (if anything) please fill me in. Anyway, I'll just give it a shot.

For a couple years I've had a clock that chimes on the hour, 1 chime for 1 o'clock, 2 for 2 o'clock and so on.

Something has been messing me up because for whatever reason I don't hear the 1 o'clock chime, only 1 chime for 2 o'clock, 2 for 3 so I'm one chime short most of the time though on occasion I do hear all the chimes.

If a person went through an EXTREEMLY traumatizing/depressing ordeal for several years and he was severly depressed and very mildly psychotic, by the end, how should this be diagnosed?
