My Friend's Girlfriend

My friend has a girlfriend named Sheila. I have known her for over a year. For nearly a year, she told me that she wasn't sexually interested in my friend. The minute he showed sexual interest in her, her entire personality seemed to change. Now she is head over heels in love with my friend.

Interestingly, she seems to have forgotten her "personality" of over a year ago. She seemed like a very different person ...

BPD and me...a personal story *long post*

I am a diagnosed BPD sufferer as well as Bipolar, although I don't like to use the word sufferer because I don't believe that I'm suffering now. I'm quite stable due to lots of therapy, my own research on the illness, and medication, and due to my own will to stabililze myself. It used to seem impossible to feel kind of normal, but I've come to a point in my life where that is fact ...

Despite the difficult-to-treat reputation of personality disorders, clinical trials of treatments show promise.

Up to 30 percent of people who require mental health services have at least one personality disorder (PD)--characterized by abnormal and maladaptive inner experience and behavior. The best and worst of it...

I guess the best part of dealing with BPD is that my incredibly chameleon like nature means that I have an extensive set of hobbies (I tend to take on whatever my friends are into if I'm not careful).

The hardest part is accepting that the way that I see relationships is not the way the world sees them. Also the chameleon thing gets unnerving too sometimes.

Anyone else want to play?

Do you tell?

Hi all, I'm new here. I was diagnosed as having "BP traits" last year. I think that this just means I mask really well. I've learned to be thankful for this skill but it still gets me in trouble (confuses people when the mask drops... as it always does eventually).

Anyway... regarding relationships - do you tell your friends/mates about your diagnosis? I kind of feel guilty starting relationships knowing what I'm going to do ...
