Handling panic attacks

Because of recent relationship troubles and problems with my family, my panic attacks have increased in frequency. I used to use pain as a method of handling them, because it helped me control the outbursts and gave me something real and concrete to feel and think about instead of panicking.

I have, however, made the decision to stop self-mutilating. Therefore I wanted to know how other BPDs handle their panic attacks: concrete advice on how ...

Anger

I read somewhere about anger and its relation to BPD. In therapy I have been saying I dont get angry much or if I do no one knows about it. However today something triggered the angry thoughts and how I react.

Basically the anger seems to be related to my control with my eldest niece. Today I was holding her hand and we had told her not to let go, she was ignoring me and ...

Are borderlines afraid of commitment

I am very afraid of marriage or long term commitment. I feel like there's always something better out there. Is this a part of my BPD?

borderline/narcissistic personality disorders

Why is borderline personality easier for me to accept than narcissistic personality? Is it because I don't see anything wrong with being narcissistic? Does anyone else on here have both BPD and NPD?

A New Realization... (help please)

I'm so dazed right now. Here's the story:

Abandonment - I Don't Fully Understand It

I am pretty familiar with BPD, but I was hoping someone could clarify the Abandonment thing because that is something I don’t understand and I was looking for some advice.

Being alone does not bother me, but often I crave being around other people to keep me going, this is normally my parents well preferably my mother since I don’t really get on with my father. That is the only family I have, others are ...

Borderline + eating disorder

I was very recently diagnosed with BPD by my psychiatrist, whom I have been seeing for the past six years. It has come as a real shock to me (as I guess it does to all BPDs), and I really need someone to discuss this new information with.

My psychiatrist has decided to refer me to a new therapist, because she now lives in a foreign country and has been seeing me pro bono for ...

No or little abandonment fear

Hi

Is it possible to have BPD and either not have a fear of abandonment, or to have it to a very small degree?

I've read that only 5 out of 9 of the symptoms are required in the DSM manual, so I would imagine not, but BDP seems to be characterised by this fear when I've read about it on websites, in books, etc.

Is it a case of it not being required but ...

Anger Tactics

For me, this is the worst part...the anger and the unhappiness. I hate feeling helpless against it and I know that I'm really not helpless. I know there are ways to try and control it, I just don't know how or where to begin. I was just wondering what tactics y'all use to control the anger outbursts. Any advice would be helpful! Thanks!

What has triggered abandonment feelings/fears for you?

a frown....someone not laughing at a joke...someone not hearing me....death of loved one..."no" to sex by spouse...anger from spouse, employer, friend, or anyone having any importance to me...son going to school...moving ...academic studies, exams, or anything upon which one might be rated/judged....so many things that the list might become endless, but these are some of the prominent ones for me....even the ending of a book, movie, or TV series that I like, for they perform ...
