New here...first post

Hello all. I'm new to the boards. I'm not new, however, to bpd. I was diagnosed four years ago, at 28 and I have exhibited ALL of the 'criteria.' I've overcome the cutting and the suicide attempts- those were prominent in my early twenties when I was in a really bad situation, unsure of how to cope or live...

I will be returning to a therapist this week, and I thought maybe joining this board ...

Sharing feelings Vs. keeping them to yourself

This is my current battle along with my abandonment issues. Every day I start my day trying to be more positive. I'm a very negative thinker. I don't know the difference between voicing your opinion and taking it way too far to the point of attacking. I was going over this problem with my fiance yesterday and he tried to explain the difference to me. I sort of understood but I'm hoping someone on here ...

Cheating and instability

I have been with a man for the last year that in the beginning I LOVE LOVED LOVED. I loved his creativity, the fact that he is an artist, and many things about him seemed to mesh with my worldview. However, I do and have had an issue with splitting him into either a complete amazing guy or completely someone that will ultimately well...leave me. I have been for the last year while with him ...

My BPD has won

I can't handle this anymore, My BPD has taken over my life! I live (I mean I exist) with nothing but regret, shame, secrets, and painfull memories. My life seems to have all been negative and now I have no way out! The Mental health team have left me for 4 months and won't return my calls, a therapy appointment has been made for 10 days time but can't wait that long. plus what is ...

breaking up with myself...

relationships are an unfathomable feature of my life with bpd. I mean what the heck makes other people seem like outerspace aliens to me. All my behaviour with other people suggests that I might be dealing with another species, it may not be obvious immediately but my internal sensory management system firmly declares I am potentially dealing with an unknown highly unpredictable and frightening creature. And theres HEAPS of em'!...there bloomin' all over...everywhere.!
Is it ...

So I just started dating a girl with BPD

I meet this girl on the internet a couple months ago. From the very start she told me she had Borderline Personality Disorder. I thought how bad couple it be.. It's not a real Personality Disorder it's only "Borderline". So a couple months go by and we meet in real life and last Friday she kind of told me that I need to look it up and make sure I know what I am getting ...

Do You Get Excited???

I have a strange question...

I'm BPD & HPD, but I get excited when I use and abuse others- intensely excited and 'high' off the feeling of inflicting emotional or sexual torture.

I use people for various things here and there (mostly men and mostly for goods and/or money) but when someone hurts me and I fall into rage I want to seek and destroy ...

Parenting a teen with bpd.

Hi everyone, I'm new here and looking for a bit of support. For the lat year we have been fostering an amazing 14 yr old girl. She has recently (6 months ago) been diagnosed with bpd. We have a great psychiatrist working with her who is very helpful and supportive. I found this forum and hoped I could get some advice from people living with the condition as to how my family and I can ...

Wow! TOTALLY invalidated last night!

I thought I knew what the term "invalidation" meant, but last night I really experienced it firsthand.

I was talking with a friend and coworker (whom everyone regards as a control freak). She was complaining about a mutual friend who had apparently acted like a real jerk and rather a mess (badly enough that Control Freak was clearly holding back details). Then somehow I got onto how selfish, manipulative, dishonest and inconsiderate I feel my ...

Intense Feelings and Over-Reaction

Just seems like I feel things too intensly than is appropriate and then over-react to these intense feelings.
This is for situations that I care about or am obsessing about, because I seem to disregard or blunt other feelings or more so situations out as I intensely focus on the others.

Anyone else describe themselves this way?
