Childhood experiences?

My childhood was happy up until I was about nine, and the family issues set in. But I still remember before that I went through things I don't think the average child did. For example, I was sexually promiscuous as a child (of course I didn't know anything I was doing was considered abnormal). I would experiment sexually with friends, cousins, and I know that that is pretty normal, but now that I look back ...

Stopping the spiral of unique temperament to disorder

It's said that BPD is a maladaptive disorder that effects thoughts, perceptions and emotions.

If our thoughts, perceptions and emotions are maladaptive, how do you think they compare to common thoughts, perceptions and emotions? (similar, different)

If our thoughts, perceptions and emotions are different, do you think most people will agree with them (parents included)?

If most people don't agree with our thoughts, perceptions and emotions, (parents included) how do you think we might feel? ...

Think I may have bpd

Hi, I'm new here, first post so hope this is OK to post about and in an appropriate place.

After reading a fair bit about BPD I think it's pretty likely I have it, and I'm wondering what I should do. As a bit of background, I'm 31 years old, I've struggled mentally all my adult life, was diagnosed with depression and social anxiety at about 21 and been in and out of all different ...

brilliant or stupid!?

Mental illness can dispatch a million negative packages to someone with a.....well...a mental illness.

Blimey I stigmatize myself. It's a reflex. I am stupid this way...but thats ok...sort of!

When I was a kid, way before I recognised feeling really crap. I pictured myself as being a heck of alot cooler than I became. like right now!

I dreamed and envisioned a dude who could handle anything and be the hero. Like all boys, kids.. ...

mental pillness

So I am told directly from the doctors who have treated me, "there is no medication for borderline personality dis-order".
They make it quite clear indeed. And I believe them. They are correct.

There exists no Pill for targeting this illness.

There are pills, however, for other illnesses that emerge because of bpd. BPD is like the main road and these other illnesses are the side-streets that run off it....either way it's a hard part ...

It Went Back

So everything went back to how it was with the ex.

Minus the fighting.

We are seeing eachother again. It's funny though because I don't really see a future with us. Like how could we ever real be together as a couple again? (But the first time I don't even feel like it was that real...) I don't think either of us really want that. Even though he said to me " Maybe we will ...

the adventures of 'BORDERBOY'

I couldn't help but laugh to myself when the following idea popped into my head.

My psychological existence is similar perhaps to "bobbing around blindfolded in the middle of the ocean and having random collisions with supertankers"....I know the ships are coming...they will come....HECK!...they've come before...it's hard not to remember a collision with one of these...apart from that, theres just lots of waves and submersion...and flip-flappin about.

Alot of the time I reflect and talk ...

Diagnosed yesterday, gang...

Hey all, I am new to borderline (diagnosis-wise, but I've had the symptoms since I was a very small child). I was finally diagnosed yesterday properly after 5 years in the adult mental health services. To begin with they thought that I just had so-called "Complex Post Traumatic Disorder", but then again - hasn't everyone who has ever been sexually abused experienced some form of Post Trauma?

Anyhow, here's a small summary of what was ...
