does this belong on the spectrum?

I've been looking for where my disorder belongs for a very long time.
I currently go to therapy for dissociative disorder (DD-NOS), but we came to realize there is more to it than just dissociation.
what brought me here is that I have some "habits" or compulsions that don't fit in with OCD or Tourette's. and I saw somewhere that "unusual" compulsions are common in people on the spectrum.

so here is the story

since ...

Hi all, new here

Hi everyone,

I'm new here, and yet I'm not.
I've been posting on the Borderline section of the board... But that's totally seperate from Autism...

My son, 7 years old, has been "diagnosed" with ASS/McDD. I say "diagnosed" because I can't be sure.
Just last week they told me it would be ADHD and we should start him on Ritalin. I refused, since I was sure that he didn't have ADHD. And luckily for that! ...

Why do ppl with Aspergers have such different voices?

I remember years ago how flippin stunned I was when I actually heard how outlandish my recorded voice sounded to myself and felt devastated in a self-conscious way.I mean I know that bone conduction makes your voice output sound different compared to what you hear and ppl with the (now under debate term) Asperger's have an unrhythmitic, odd pitched monotone but it's f---n ridiculous, with me!.

I mean if I knew it would come out deep I ...

Autism Spectrum or Schizo Spectrum?

Before I get started I will admit I'm a bit of a hypochondriac. If I happen to read or hear about an illness, mental or physical I will begin to strongly believe I have it.

Over the last year I have been researching autism. Long story short, I overheard someone at a party speculating if I was autistic due to my quietness and spacey quality. That being said, I was incredibly high (am a bit ...

Eye-Contact: Can You Learn It?

Okay, so here's the run-down. I believe whole-heartedly that numerous times psychologists and psychiatrists have overlooked my very real possibility of having Asperger's Syndrome. If you guys require I provide first-hand experience as well as a list of objective observations made by my roommate, then I can reply to this thread justifying why I claim that I have AS. That aside, this was my recent experience in a psych ward at a hospital for 3 ...

Adam Lanza DID NOT HAVE ASPERGER SYNDROME

Adam Lanza was never officially diagnosed with Asperger syndrome. This news article officially states that Adam Lanza's mother and brother merely speculated that he had Asperger syndrome, and that he didn't have a confirmed diagnosis of Asperger syndrome. Please read this: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-204_162-57559600/aspergers-not-likely-to-make-people-violent-experts-emphasize/

Furthermore, Dr. Elizabeth Laugeson, an autism specialist at UCLA stated that "The vast majority of people with Asperger's are law-abiding citizens that don't act violently against others. I think it would be sad ...
