I am shaking with rage!

My daughter has autism and has a special needs aid for school. Well at bedtime today she started crying. Because the special needs aid told her she would cut her tongue of with scissors if she kept talking.

I am very angry her aid shod have known she would take it literally. I am going down to play hell in the morning.

My poor daughter must of been terrified.

Is This a Common Trait in Autism?

Is not being able to "emote oneself" a common trait in Autism? Another way to look at this is not being able to "prove oneself". For example, being really good at certain disciplines, but when it comes to showing others how good at those disciplines one is, the person cannot do it. The person just kind of 'shuts down'. Is this Autism?

What a profound way to live one's life. Christ was all about not ...

Can ADHD and OCD be misdiagnosed as autism?

I was originally diagnosed with autism, but that doesn't really fit me. I got diagnosed with autism because I was a bad kid and my parents were poor immigrants desperate for money.
Most of my social difficulties seem to be caused by ADHD and upbringing. My obsessions seem to be more Pure-O than autistic. I do have some "special interests", but I think that's because my dad is a huge nerd and I was imitating ...

What assistance can my illiterate friend get, he is an adult

I have a friend who I suspect has dyslexia. I'm not a doctor or clinical psychologist but after reading about various reading disorders I think dyslexia matches best. He cannot write and has a difficult time reading, often failing to correctly read even simple sentences in text messages. This is affecting him in that he cannot get a job that requires a personality test because he cannot read the questions sufficiently. Also people do not ...

Is Autism really that "bad"?

All I hear in lectures, all I read in books and all I see in documentaries is how bad it is to live with autism. I have never heard, seen or read any real positive things, but I do wonder if that is really how it is....

Neurotypicals often say they can't grasp my ideas, but I also can't graps theirs... Take Russia and Ukraine these days, I just can't grasp why the leaders of ...
