Are brainwave entrainment CDs effective?

I have been hearing a lot about brainwave entrainment CDs. Some of my friends have tried using some of these CDs and claim that they really work wonders. They have asked me to try one too. But I am not sure whether these CDs or audio programs are really effective. Do they actually help bring about a noticeable change? Kindly suggest.

Question about ADHD...

okay so I've been diagnosed with ADHD when I was a young boy...

The symptoms relieved after grade 9 or 10... but prior to that it was seriously BRUTAL, although I've noticed that I seem to still be a lot more "hyperactive" than many of my friends - in fact, out of the people who I hang out with I'm usually the most active one.

I'm first year university now, and finding a hard time ...

Is this common with ADHD?

My first session with a therapist, he say's oh you definitely have ADHD. Now, I'm one of those who was never hyper as a kid so perhaps that's why it slipped past me until now as far as even looking into it. I have always attributed my inability to focus and complete tasks to my suffering as a Derealization/Depersonalization head case. Reading testimonies here on this site and others has explained a lot as far ...

Does my grandson have ADD or ADHD?

He's 7, and can't stop talking! Then there's the focus issue - he has a VERY hard time doing it. He got into trouble the other day at school and had an emotional outburst, prompting the teacher to send him to the bathroom. He continued this outburst for about 10 minutes. When my hub picked him up from school, my grandson said that he knew he was getting into trouble but couldn't stop himself. He ...

Strattera/general med question

I started Strattera last week at a dose of 40mg and was upped to 80 yesterday. The odd thing is that when I was taking the 40mg I could feel it and taste it but when the dose doubled it seemed to drop into the background and wasn't as 'present'. Is this how it works with meds? I've never taken them.

Thanks

Husband Just Diagnosed

Hi, this is my first time posting on this particular forum. I apologise if this is a bit long...
A couple of months back, my 4 year old son was diagnosed with asperger's syndrome. We were all expecting it really so we were able to digest the news pretty quickly and our family was very supportive...all except my mother in law. She believes the condition to be made up and refuses to accept her grandchild ...

New member, need advice

Hi everyone. I was diagnosed with ADD about 6 months ago or so, along with Bipolar Disorder. I have apparently had ADD since I was a kid, but had not known about it, my mom did but didn't want me to take medication for it. Anyway I got diagnosed at age 21, I'm 22 now. Since then I have been trying to learn more about it and how to deal with it.

So the part ...

I have trouble reading. Do I have ADD?

People don't seem to believe me when I tell them that I have trouble reading, because, they say, if that was the case then I wouldn't have been able to finish college. The thing is, though, when I was in college I always leaned towards classes that required as little reading as possible: math, science, programming, etc. It is true that I was able to do well in college in spite of my "problem," but ...

Effexor XR for adult add?

Hello.
I'm new to the forums.
I was wondering if anyone knows or has themselves used Effexor XR for the treatment of ADD/ADHD?
I took Adderall when I was 16 for several months and it made my attention span just a little bit better, and it made me very angry and irritable.
I'm on Effexor XR right now for OCD and Generalized ANxiety Disorder. I was hoping that my ADD symptoms would improve...but I haven't seen ...
