ADHD and TV Commercials

I recently wrote an article about how I think tv commercials contribute to adhd. The constant attention switching from show to commercial breaks the attention span in segments. I cited a couple of studies that link tv in general to attentional problems, but nothing specific to commercials. What do you guys/gals think about this? Commercials annoy the heck out of me and then one day it clicked that this might be a problem. Check out ...

4 Year old having trouble at school

I am Mum to 3 girls, my youngest being a 4 year old livewire. From an early age she had some 'odd' tendencies. Toys had to be lined up, tea sets could only be played with if the cup, spoon and saucer were the same colour. She spoke very young, started counting to 10 on her own around 13-14 months old and could recognise written numbers (1-10) before the age of 2. Now she can ...

Problems with my jobs

I am 36 and since one year ago I know I suffer from attention deficit disorder innatentive type.
I spent too many years to finish my degree. Eventually I finish my degree after having studied harder, long hours but inefficiently.
I had several jobs and I have been fired twice because of my poor performace. I dis my best and I always daydreamed of being the perfect employer and making a magnifient career.

All this ...

Severe Add?

I am going to seek out a Psychologist soon and I wonder if I might have a severe form of Adhd or Add
I have very disabling symptoms and find it hard to obtain or keep Relationships/Friendships and Jobs.
I have terrible short term memory and I am constantly losing things and forgetting to do things and I am constantly having to make lists for everything that I do.
Sometimes I will talk to someone ...

Does this get better with age?

I have a lot less daydreaming in the last 3 years than I had in my others years of school.
Perhaps it's school related because I got into a better (some people there are still dicks and I have no problem planting a bomb in their car and playing puzzle with their bits, teachers and students) school, but I'm just curious.

Adderall, workforce..

K this is sort of a 3 part question post.

What does everyone think about long-term effects of meds? I was going to wean myself off adderall, but then I realized, oh $#%^, how am I going to succeed at a job with my symptoms of ADD still going strong.. (I'm a senior in college)..

I take 10mg IR twice a day but its effectiveness is waning I think.. I have a high-deductible health insurance ...

Possibly ADD or maybe just traits?

I've had this problem since I was in Infant school (4+), maybe even earlier, but it's about as far back as I can remember.

I have always had problems with my school work. Was never able to keep up with other students. I just really couldn't do the work. I pretty much got E's on most of my subjects by the time I finished High School, so I failed that. I would look at the ...

How to stop daydreaming

Tips on the subject are most welcome.

I've been having trouble staying focused on basic tasks, due to an overwhelming desire to stay inside my head, shut off the external world and just think and feel whatever comes to mind.

These are not depressive thoughts but only recollections, opinions, imaginative plays and the feelings which come with them - which, due to them being free of boundaries, lure me still.

Yet, I've previously posted this ...

Trying to understand my brain.

Hello,
About five years ago I was diagnosed with schizoid personality disorder. I didn't really question this at the time, as it more or less covered the problems I was having and it was relief just to have an explanation of some sort. Things have gotten worse with my ability to function so I'm back to seeing a psychiatrist.
He says depression, fair enough. I have tried most SSRI medications to drastically bad effect. I ...
