Gov'ment came 'n' took mah baaaaaybeh!

So, I found a forum today called "Wrong Planet" which is dedicated to Asperger's syndrome.

I was lurking around the forum and found a post by a 29 year old British woman who has AS and just gave birth and had her baby, only to have it taken away from her because she has AS. I signed up for an account to reply to her rage and obvious lack of parenting skills. I was banned ...

Am I possibly making a difference?

Hey all,

I kinda stumbled upon this forum, by accident, as addressing a few of the questions I had about someone I know with Asperger's Syndrome. There's a lot to this story, and I appreciate any feedback anyone can give related to what's going on.

So, in short - about 6-8 months or so ago I met someone with Asperger's Syndrome. At the time, I didn't know this, but felt she could use a friend ...

A year later.

Another post that will quickly float to the back of the forum unread. But I figured I'd say it.

This time last year I was dealing with the fact that I was 21 and I had nothing to look back on in my childhood and teen years other than loneliness and frustration. It was caused by Aspergers which has taken my youth, my potential friends and relationships. My good times I could look back on ...

Fear

Sigh.

I sit here (not a big surprise), at my apartment, watching HIGNFY yet again and looking outside the widow as the think branches of birches move in the air like curtains.

I should be doing projects. I HATE MYSELF!

Why? Why, oh why, am I alive? Why am I such a loser? Such a coward?

What worth do I have? When all I even think turns to dust in front of me? I see ...

Outlets

Alright. I get frustrated, I would assume you guys get frustrated. What do you guys do to "let off steam"?

I will do one of many things;

Cook
Draw
Sculpt
Conceptualize
Blacksmith
Sharpen knives (ah! i have one to sharpen now!)
Browse the internet

Alright, so depending on your outlook, not all of these would be productive. What could a person achieve by browsing the internet?
That's not the point. I just want you guys ...

Interesting interview on AS

I stumbled across this yesterday - a recent interview with Tony Attwood on Autralian radio. It's a really interesting interview, and is presented from a sensitive standpoint IMO: potentially useful for friends and families of those with AS, as well as people with a diagnosis. I found his comments on females with AS especially interesting and perceptive (they describe me very well!):

Communicating with step-brother

My Mom married a man with a child who is an aspie. He is a really sweet kid, but definitely has some issues that make it difficult to communicate with him. To make things even harder, my Mom and her husband have decided to forgo any outside help, and also do not have a very consistent discipline plan in place. He travels a lot and my mom and him have very different parenting techniques. Anyway, ...

I lust you...(thoughts on "love")

My mom gets so mad at me because I have never said the word "love" in any sense that means what other people think it means. I often tell her "I like you more than I like other people" and I think that should be enough, right? Well, not for her or anybody else in my life.

I like my nieces, I like my brother, and I like green beans. I think the only person ...

I was happy today

For a while.

Most of the day was $#%^, but I did go for a walk in the evening, as the bright setting sun painted everything yellow, the vast white snowbanks glimmering and all the details very painfully clear and all the bare trees drawn against the cloudless sky. I walked to the nearby church, walked around the mausoleums and tombstones buried in snow. I came across a large stone, not a tombstone.

On top ...
