I don't really follow pop culture but The #FreeBritney Movement has a lot of momentum.

Great opportunity for us, people with lived experience and more knowledge of the human rights in psychiatry movement to add some more advanced information on just how dirty and abusive the mental health industry can be and get the word out.

I am going to look for comment ...

Came real close to a 5150 or 'Baker Act'

Got caught in the cycle of drinking. My appetite for food was completely gone and the only way to hold off the next round of anxiety attacks from hell was more alcohol. Came on pretty quick.

Choices, the ER or some drug and alcohol treatment place surrounded by 20-30 different personalities, shared rooms wake up at 6 AM meetings and groups and same the stuff I have heard 1000 times IF I could even get ...

Nightmarish psych treatment podcast

Here's an unspooling podcast about a patient's nearly 30-year relationship with an allegedly highly controlling psychiatrist. The sixth and final episode drops Tuesday, June 11.

The story also was covered in yesterday's NY Post.

Traditionalism was moribund.

“Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.”
(Jude 7 King James Version (KJV) )

We are all aware just how deep-rooted religion is in our legal system and quite possibly in the backgrounds of most psychiatrists. Catholicism and Presbyterianism still have a strong foothold across the world ...

section 38: Mother's basement.

If something is a miss and you cannot place your finger on it and this thing is affecting your happiness, then prudence would suggest that you go get this issue seen to for resolve. When the treatment offered is the opposite from what is asked, and you know that you cannot continue forward in the way you would like: then actions speak louder than words? So, are you being selfish by bringing innocent by-standards into ...

Twenty first century concentration camps.

“In these camps the like-minded congregate in specific rooms and appoint themselves a particular chair: it’s the parliament of madness and chief whip is the governor.”

Ten years in the mental health camps and you’ll most likely skirmish a few rules and have your fair share of retaliation from the guards. They document you you document them, and this vicious circle does not forfeit. Only when you complain you get labelled ‘pugnacious’ whilst their behaviour ...

a fickle notion to behold.

Psychiatry is taught that if you have been found guilty of an action that the chances of this repeat behaviour is: inevitable.
The black race are at risk, the Jews are at risk, woman are at risk. In fact any background that has been targeted in the past is at risk of that oppression happening again.

Xenophobia, subjugation, imprisonment, obsequious to servile degree- all of these behaviours are educated from oppression's within our histories: the ...

Books on Defensive mechanisms

Anyone know of a good book that uses a "scenario" based approach to describing defense mechanisms (denial, blaming others, blaming self, rationalizing, maximizing, minimizing, etc)? I remember one when I was younger, but cannot remember it's name, however I am sure there are others... I am looking for this book for self-help for patients (I am a nurse) who had traumatizing lives, or just use unhealthy coping mechanisms.

Thanks,

Val

Human clay.

Human Clay.

“You’ve not taken me out of prison by having me live in society. You’ve just simply taken away Its walls.”

I once recall a wall that was built to a design by the Surveyor-General of prisons: a pinnacle of Its absolute purpose- Asylum. Sir Joshua Jebb would be rolling in his grave if he knew that the Infirm minds masquerade in full frivolity dressed as nurses but worse of all it’s the credulous ...

My body dysmorphia is really bad...

Hi. I'm the one who said I loathed my mother. I didn't know what loathe meant (to have contempt). Sorry, I'm sure I seemed really evil. Let's just say I have a lot of pent-up anger.

So I Think I have body dysmorphia.( I'm posting in the anti-psych part of the forum because it feels safer.) I say body dysmorphia(as opposed BDD) to side-step whether I'm ugly or not. That's irrelevant. I feel like my ...
