Agoraphobia and jobs.

I've been pretty severely agoraphobic for over a year now. I didn't attend the last three months of my senior year, instead completing the work at home and having someone else turn it in for me. I only went in for my finals (which I took in a room alone) and graduation (a major feat). Since, I've been sort of "off and on", as in I have good days/weeks/months as well as bad days/weeks/months. I ...

Does it sound like Agoraphobia or ....

I've been meaning to get this sorted out for some time now.

Here's a question for everyone here that suffers from Agoraphobia:

When you're outside, and you're walking down a street (your neighborhood, city street, etc) parking lot, open space (park, field) how is your anxiety level?

For example
, just before I leave my house and open the door, I feel a surge of anxiety before turning that handle. Then once I'm outside on ...

Ranting

SOrry, just ranting here.

Feel like I'm going out of my mind again. Ran out of my night meds and don't feel like driving the 20 miles to Costco to get them. They help me sleep and I guess help with the anxiety, too even though I'm on anxiety stuff, and a lot (4mg Klonapin/day).

I hate living in my mind and I know if I didn't have special needs cats, or cats at all ...

WooHOO! Summer break is here and I'm not leaving the house!

I'm so excited because school ends tomorrow, and I won't be forced to go to a stupid outpatient program! Hahhaahaha  my therapist actually thought I improved. I haven't changed a bit since I started. I plan to stop going to school completely and stay in my house forever! Aaah the life of a NEET hikikomori is a great one. ...

I hate going outside when my neighbors are outside

My mom asked me to go check to see if there was any mail and before I go outside I always check to see if anyone is in their front yards. My neighbors were all outside playing with their kids and things. So i waited to see if they would have a break in all the fun and maybe go inside for a bit. No luck I was waiting for quite some time. My mom ...

Functional Agoraphobia?

After reading about Schizoid personality disorder, I felt the description suited me as I have a lot of symptoms. I made an appointment with a first-line psych doctor who focuses on psychological consultations and talked about it with her. Her assessment was that I might have functional agoraphobia, but after reading posts on here, I'm not sure how one can be functional agoraphobic, let alone myself being listed as one.

I can go outside my ...

Pesky Neighbor brings back anxiety

Hi everyone,

Forewarning, there is information all over the place. I just don't know where to start, or what is relevant. I’m sorry, this is the first time I’ve ever tried something like this.

I am ashamed to say this, but I feel controlled by my busybody neighbor, who feels like she has free rein over the property line between our houses. I just want to know of some info or coping skills so I ...

Picking my battles - should I face this event or not?

Hi all,
I'm new here so want to introduce myself and my situation. If anyone has any advice or encouragement for me it would be greatly appreciated.

For the last 15 years I've had a fear of being trapped in specific situations. The list is long and complicated, but includes cars (when someone else is driving) cinemas, churches, hairdresser's chairs, dentists, ceremonies, theaters, some restaurants, crowds of people and demonstrations. The fear seems to be ...

I hardly ever go out side.

A long time ago I was diagnosed as having panic disorder with agoraphobia. Medication has me doing way better. What I'm really thinking about, is how I hardly ever go out side. Its not like I'm scared of the outdoors, Its more like I get nothing out of going out side. My life is basically one of, waking up, using my computer, or walking around the house on and off, then I go to bed ...
