Help?

Hi

I don't know where to post this - it's a bit of an odd one really. But a close friend of mine has cystic fibrosis. She's obviously known her entire life, and is being treated etc - but her mental state is seriously deteriorating. She feels her quality of life is poor or non-existent, she's not talking to anybody much, is isolated in hospital with batteries of tests etc. I really don't know what ...

The attraction of the fetish.

Isn't a fetish simply the basic human desire to be naughty, to do what they shouldn't, to secretly open that door that says "Private", to open the secret diary or the restricted file and read what is not meant for our eyes?
ie: if the door had no sign on it warning us to keep out, we would not be inclined to open it....

Scratches

Hey (this may be triggering. I don't know!)

So. I feel a bit of a fraud posting here compared to people who cut/burn etc, but I scratch my skin. I get it to the point of almost-bleeding, so it doesn't quite scab over normally and is raw for a really long time, thus hurting more.

Couple of questions. Firstly - I don't know how to stop. I do it for several reasons - usually when ...

Can the Host be less than an Alter? Just a Facade?

This is my summary at the bottom, but adding it here too so no one is disturbed by this whole conversation:

Remember all those inside are still YOU even if they don't act that way! These are not other people. It's just parts of your subconscious that works to protect you, the host and your true self.

That perfect little true self that is locked away is just you without the horrible trauma. You would ...

more like a child than an adult

Perhaps it was my harsh childhood: I detached myself mentally from my surroundings at an early age, and never quite got over it. Perhaps it was my learning diability, it does cause one to live in their own little world, no matter how old they get.
All I know is that when I was growing up, there were several instances of my not acting my age.
I at 13 was playing with some toys in ...

Self-Harming out of spite?

Self-harmed for the third time about fifteen minutes ago, because my ex wouldn't get back with me. Told her (on FB) and she wasn't happy about it, saying because it pissed her off when I told her I did it. The worst part is, I don't even feel anything when cutting - no emotions, just the pain of scissors cutting into my skin. I want to be upset, because I think I feel sad but ...

Anyone here with Complex PTSD?

I was 1st diagnosed with PTSD 16 years ago, then re-diagnosed recently as Complex PTSD. Also a bit of depression, OCD and dissociation, but that may be part of the PTSD....or is it?

Any other CPTSD peoples out there?

Ignorance

Lately, I was on a website and there was a person who stated that all mental disorders are load of crap.
To me, mental disorder is how your brain functions. I don't understand how anyone could dismiss mental disorder as something that you can control when in fact, you can't control it at all. If you could, I would be talking a lot.
Has anyone notice this ignorance in our society? Like my therapist said, ...
