In reading up on treatment for AvPD, I've seen a lot of sites mention that antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications might be prescribed. Is this common, or only in cases where depression is apparent? I'm considering possibly seeing someone about AvPD and I'm kind of scared that if I have it someone will recommend an antidepressant. The first time I was ever forced to see a specialist psychologist, I got evaluated on the PCL-R, covered up a lot of traits the tester was looking for, but still managed to score a 25, which got me classified as antisocial, but not severely psychopathic. I can relate to the not feeling ashamed as I thought I would / should when having to show my scars on my forearms when I had to get blood work done a few weeks ago. Although the lady said nothing about them, I still think she was disgusted.
