Many talk about narcissism as a reaction to abuse but can it be a reaction to intense adulation and glory as well?
I was told by my mother and a few others how "special" I was when I was a child and my mother has always reminded me of how "special" I was, along with how friends of my parents would say the same about my looks and personality.
Has my mother through genuine kindness actually ruined my psychology towards life?

I think yes. I had a mother who could be either very validating or critical. I think the confusion of having both can definitely contribute too.

Yes, it can be, golden child.
Good luck with the narc, not the easiest of burdens.
Sometimes, when one person is missing, the whole world seems empty.
