I don't see the point of all the hysteria around Vaknin. If what he says tends to add up, in which i agree because i've noticed it within myself, then what is there to complain about? It's better than using the infamous Google to see countless amounts of websites dictating that Narcissists are the epitome of the dead and evil.

But we are, lol
What we are concerned with is narcissism in a pathological sense, with self-love that serves as a cloak for self-hatred. The polarities of self-hatred and self-love are linked together in the defensive system, but the nuclear problem is the self-hatred.

That doesn't help prove my point at all, haha. I guess it's just 'nice' seeing a site that talks about the layers of NPD than us just being a calloused ignorant prick-in which is not true. I read around on youtube that real NPD people are actually modest and not so much an asshole like many people think when they try to explain what NPD is, which i actually agreed with.

Well I dunno. I like to help people because their happiness is supply. I like to feign modesty because that gives me sympathy. So based on how we act, we really aren't evil. But our motivation for everything we do is purely egoistical, so I guess that we really are evil, deep down, even though we don't act evil.

True, i only told one person what i was, and that was to a friend of 7 years. I told her that i'm Narcissistic etc etc because at the time it was a break through in understanding myself a bit more. Sure enough surprisingly, she's still a friend, so i don't think she cares all too much or she doesn't 'get it', but the deed was done and she still talks to me lol

The problem with Vaknin is not that he offers explanations, its that his main reason for offering explanations is to make excuses for himself/get supply. His view of NPD doesn't erase the "epitome of the dead and the evil" idea, basically because he still suggests people approach narcissists/narcissists approach themselves as if they were the dead and the evil. What Vaknin offers is actually a get out clause - "I'm the dead and the evil, there is nothing i can do about this, so im going to carry on being the dead and the evil, but its not my fault."

Yes, it is! The dead and the evil are worse - psychologists suggesting a psychological disorder doesn't have psychological causes, and that they are just "evil" ? WTF? those people are ...not psychologists, they're religious nuts!

These are not the only two choices. there is another choice apart from Vaknin or the dead and the evil: think for yourself.

I can't think for myself, i'm a robot. But yeah i do agree with you, and i think religious donkeys should keep their mouth shut when talking anything about psychology; they over exaggerate it all too well.

It's difficult to choose between which delusionist I'd rather witness, but I'll take my chances with the religious one. The narcissist is toxic, the believer just has some issues I don't agree with.

Really? you don't think some of the things religious delusionists shout about are just as damaging? Because it's labelled a "religion" instead of a "disorder"? What makes you think religious nuts are any healthier/non "toxic" than non-religious nuts?

and no, i dont mean to say all religious people are nuts, just that the sort who spout that sort of $#%^.

Religious nuts are open and honest about what they think, that's the difference. At least they show their face.
