From what I remember, he was just spontaneously violent, often worse when mixed with alcohol and drugs, used to openly masturbate and constantly tell lies about what the care staff were doing with him. He wasn't the brightest bulb in the box.

I know we like to categorise people based on lists of symptoms but, in reality, BPD is often dumped on someone if nothing else fits. It was considered more dangerous, as Borderlines are just that; a lot more unpredictable than most other conditions and so varied in how they responded.
I'm not arguing; I'm explaining why I'm right.

Putting people who don't fit elsewhere into the catagory makes sense as to why I it seems to get more confusing for me.
- and the unpredictability mentioned, helps to clarify it.

Akuma thank you for sharing. That is basically how I was understanding it as well. I tend to use Kernberg because I find his explanations easy to understand and that make the most sense to me. I’ve never read anything specific on the development of the ego and super ego so I’ll check that out as well.
