From what I understand psychopaths and narcissistic and narcissist can display psychopathic tendencies, but likely there are varying degrees of narc and psychopathic behaviours.

Psychopathy is a strange one, as it's not clinically accepted as fitting into a particular box, albeit it's lumped in with AsPD. However, that's because the behaviours can be similar, not the cause.

So, there are many conditions that would probably get someone diagnosed with something hinting at psychopathy. A particularly violent Narc would.

There are hundreds of cases where people in prison are broadly classified as psychopaths, but their individual mental issues are varied and diverse, from paranoia to schizoid to psychotic etc.

No matter how anti-social it is, and pretty much hated by the normals, psychopathy is a mental condition where the sufferer does, beneath it all, want to be better but just doesn't know how. Living with it is no picnic.

Its no picnic for those on the receiving end of it either.

The problem is such persons often can not be reasoned with, only what they think and say is worth anything (no one else is worth hearing) and even when help offered / suggested they won't take it because they think themselves as the only one to be believed, superior above all others.

Hard to believe they want to be better or to feel better if they don't seek help, sure they want to feel better if they can maintain their feeling of superiority (downing everyone else).

But sure there are always exceptions.

I assume what happens with many pwNPD is that they lose supply and their internal motivations just switch. There are quite a few videos from Vaknin that elucidate how Cluster B disorders are in a certain sense very similar and essentially just different sides of the same coin.

Has anyone experienced a phase change from borderline narcissist to psychopath? If only for a short period. I believe I have; for all of 30 minutes. An ephemeral and liberating experience like a heavy cloak falling off ones shoulders. A brain chemistry thing, I'm sure; before I was taking anti depressants.

What does this mean in practical terms?

A liberation from all constraints and a profound and not unpleasant emptiness ... for all of 30 minutes.
