Another thing to take into account is narcissists tend to be (more often) slow burning as opposed to the borderline who will go out with a bang but have little fuel left for the punishments to come afterwards

Anyways, I'm going to leave this topic now given I don't want to sound insulting of a PD on their actual forum

This is apparent that i struggle and confuse myself if I am indeed borderline.

Like I have a ton of rage, but don't know if it ever fades.
If so in what way it does. Bpd or narc.

To be honest, I was kind of just talking out of my ass.

One of my many past diagnoses have been BPD, so I decided to project my own experiences.
I've only ever met two people who actually qualify for NPD both are in what they do is for the long haul ("slow burning") as opposed to me. Lashing out, raging occassionally feels good for a moment or two, but that's about it, and I usually look to do so within the context of a "good cause" rather than vengeance or power tripping or abusing etc.
All in all, raging, lashing out, battling are not avenues I normally focus on or invest skill development in. I have other things I find more enjoyable

I'm generally friendly, agreeable and transparent, so when I express my rage (that normally channel into more worthwhile-to-me endeavors instead), I go off with a "bang" and, due to the major contrast, I look bat $#%^ crazy - especially when I went up against one of the aforementioned people.
It was a learning experience not to challenge that type of person, and if they're gaining a following, it's best to walk away from everyone they "recruit"

I think I should correct myself in the following: punishing isn't just for NPDs. BPDs are just as punishing. From what I've seen, on top of a BPD self-destructing to literally self-destruct, they're also likely to self destruct to punish others (ex:. threaten to kill themselves to punish, self-harm to punish others, or threaten to self harm to stop others from setting boundaries they don't like, etc). So much overlap, it looks like.

I noticed the OP was in glamourization and "stir the pot" mode, so I decided to be a brat and play a sort of devil's advocate.

I don't actually know the answer, so I wouldn't take anything I say to heart in this instance.

I'm no expert but maybe the difference is to do with the reason why the rage starts.

I just read somewhere that narcissistic people need validation and bpd people have an issue with being abandoned.

I'm thinking that the narcissistic rage will be all about wanting to be heard and the bpd rage will be all about fear of abandonment.

Just a thought.

I was diagnosed with bpd but I have no issues with abandonment but when I would go into a rage in my relationship I would lock my ex in the house until I was satisfied that he had heard me out and that I had won.

There is no difference in the hurt that the injury induced. Rather in the reaction to dealing with it.
The Narcissist feels he/she has to win in order to minimise the psychological damage, and usually does in the short term, Longer term, I'd put the money on the BPD winning due to sheer repetition and evasion tactics.

They simply never tire of the drama! An illustration of this phenomenon is well portrayed in the classic film "A Street Car Named Desire" Brando plays the overt Narc but isn't really a match over time for "Blanche Dubois" ( Vivian Leigh)
